Don`t waste your money on extended warranties .Hondas are on of the most reliable cars going .I doubt you will need major repairs before the warranty runs out.

Do a thorough search before making such an important decision.

It is your money.

I think as long as you perform all the routine maintenance required you should be OK without it. But still it is a risk and your choice. Personally, I wouldn't.

DO IT! I have an 06 Civic EX, I'm neighboring problems around 69,000km and Honda or Honda Canada won't even look at the car since it's out of warranty. Maybe I was just sold a lemon but seriously consider it, just for the sake of arguing I have always serviced it at my local Honda dealership.

holy crap! u already have 69,000km on ur car. WOW!!. But I suppose it was all distance between work and back is far and highway driven. For my 02 civic I only have like total 72,xxxkm on it and it was brand new when bought.

Yep, 3-4 years of driving in only one year. This truly tested out the vehicle well, I'm trying to think where my civic hasn't gone. Niagara Falls to Toronto (almost daily commute, sometimes 2 times a day!) really increases the kms on your car.

Anyway, in my region.. it's the first car with this much mileage (as indicated by my dealer), and is it any wonder it's having all these small problems? Basically your problems start AFTER 60,000+ when the warranty is out.

Don't bother with the extended warranty. The base warranty is 3 years...if there are any problems with the vechicle, you'll notice and get them fixed within that time frame. I have owned an '07 for about six months now....no problems at all with it.

the warranty doesn't go by years, it goes by kms. 60,000 km warranty is the "base" warranty as you say.

just small problems, im experiencing very poor paint quality also. The front end of my car looks like its over 10 years old, I think honda cheaped out on their paint or something.

I just got my civic last week, what's the best way to prevent stone chips and scratches in the front?

I was considering installing "3M clear bra" from a shop in the GTA? Anyone have these and recommends them?

Please elaborate on these small problems. Are they actually problems or is it just the way the car was designed? Everyone has different preferences.

I agree that the paint is on the cheaper side, but just get a clear bra or something to help prevent chips. No car is immune to chips no matter how good the paint is.

How much are the professional installers quoting you for the 3M clear bra install?

I'm planning to install it on my Bumper, 1/4 of hood, fenders, and maybe side mirrors....

How about you?

cant you buy extended warranty before the warranty run out? i know for BMW's you can, so you dont have to fork out the cash nor make the decision when you pickup.

With most companies you can but the more time/Km's that have passed since you picked up the car, the more the extended warranty will cost.

As for the paint chips, you'd expect that with that amount of Km's driven...

I was thinking of the 3M also but it isn't very clear, it's very noticeable and looks weird IMO. Cost is around $175-350 (from what I've found on the net).

Try driving a few more feet away from the car ahead .Doing constant HWY comumting will cause alot of stone chips .My Prelude had the same problem .Hard blame Honda for stone chips .As for the paint you should have brought forward your complaint earlier .I doubt your poor paint started at 69K .

It isn't a 3yr across the board. The powertrain is 4 or 5 years or something like that. I have a Civic too and there is a booklet they give you that talks about the warranty.
