As stated in my earlier post, you can get it at blockbuster previously viewed for $40. No shipping expense and 30 days return.

Amazon has no shipping above $39 anyway...

amazon = terrible for games.
They put things on sale (in stock).. and then I get an e-mail from them a week or so later saying that they don't have it, and they won't get it and so they've cancelled my order..

the kicker is.. it's available on their website still.. at a higher price! When I point that out to them, they just say to order it (at that higher price).

So.. buyer beware. I've been burned by Amazon, and I won't again.

Ok, but another point is that you can get it right away at blockbuster for $40, why wait a week or so to get it from Amazon to also pay an additional $5, doesn't make much sense.

Sayz you. Stick to playing Kameo, Lost Planet is too sophisticated for your liking.

FYI The game was lauded as a huge success scoring huge ratings with gamers the world over...alas the consensus has spoken.

Most of the time there's a Telus and/or Visa $10 off $50 coupon. I most recently used one for Odin Sphere+novel in June.

So $44.99+$6 item - $10 coupon = $41 for game+ whatever filler you added. And don't forget to collect air miles off airmilesshops.ca, 25 AM for first purchase by end of the summer or so.

In summary: Sealed, brand new, no gas needed to go to local BBV, bonus Air Miles, filler item for the same price as pre-played at BBV. More than a fair tradeoff for shipping time in my opinion - Lost Planet is a major game, not like a niche game like Disgaea/Odin Sphere, where the shipping times are far worse.

Gas? I live a few blocks away, you've got to be kidding me! most people have a blockbuster in their vicinity - often in walking distance. You're paying $41 for a game you wont have for a week or two (LOL) nevermind the paltry amount of airmiles you'd receive for such a cheap purchase. It really makes no sense to go through that when you can purchase a game that is as good as new. In fact mine doesn't even look as though it's even been played. Come on man, lol that's just foolishness - you're really digging deep aren't ya!!

You're crazy dude! lol

Nah, I agree with him - I'd rather buy it new at amazon for $1 more (or even $5). You've obviously had good experiences with BB, but the games/dvds I've bought there have always definitely looked used. And for this price, I'd just as soon buy it new and not worry. Plus, I'm in no big hurry to get the game - I have other things to play in the meantime, and amazon's free shipping is surprisingly quick (I get the email saying it's been shipped in 2/3 business days, and often the item comes before the email).

As far as being "burned" by Amazon, I've never had it happen like that - a couple times for rare items, they've gone out of stock and have taken a lot longer than they said - but they've always arrived eventually, I've never had it canceled on me. That would suck (but then again, you're not losing any money on it, so it could be worse).

And I never knew about the airmiles deal... I'll have to use that from now on.

First message:
We're sorry to report we won't be able to obtain the following items from
your order:

Windows (Primary Contributor) "Starcraft Battle Chest"

"Project Gotham Racing 3"

"NHL 07"

Although we'd expected to be able to send these items to you, we've since
found they're not available from any of our sources at this time. We
realize this is disappointing news to receive, and we apologize for any
inconvenience we've caused you.

These unavailable items have been cancelled from your order.

Second message (after I responded to the first one):
I checked into your order and found that you may have already
received e-mail from us about this item. Unfortunately, when we
contacted our supplier, we learned that these items "NHL 07"
and "Project Gotham Racing 3" are no longer available.
...
Further, I would like to inform you that this item "Starcraft Battle
Chest" is listed at our site as "In Stock". If you wish, your are
welcome to place a new order for this item.

The second one is where it gets particularily appalling. "We learned that these items.. are no longer available". No longer available, eh? Why do I see them both in stock now?

And the Starcraft Battle Chest.. was in stock when they sent that first message. The second message said I could re-order it.. at double the price advertised when I first ordered it (a further message I sent, pointing this out.. did not receive a reply).

And, yeah, it did make me lose out on some $$.. because I could have ordered some of these at a lower price at the time (Boxing day sales..)

Just go to Best Buy and PM the amazon price if you really want a new copy right away.

It's a game...not used underwear, damn!

I always check previously viewed games before purchase. If it is scratched i wont take it. My version of Lost Planet has not even 1 scratch/blemish on it. To pay $1 more and wait how many weeks for it to arrive is ********. Air miles on a $40 product?!? Hardly worth my efforts.

Umm..FYI, it's $40 at blockbuster, not $44.

They wont match with amazon. In fact they'd probably laugh at your attempts to PM with an e-tailer.

This is a cold deal...

You can get a brand new copy on eBay, shipped, for around C$35. Not that difficult to find a good deal either.

Used? Even cheaper.

Lol, yep, you said all that in your previous post. We'll just have to disagree.

I'm sure you can find a better deal on ebay if you hang out there long enough, but if we called every deal cold because you could save $5 by getting lucky on ebay we wouldn't have much to post here. Dealwhore doesn't even want to wait a few days for amazon to ship - I'm sure he'd like even less waiting a day or two to see if he's won the auction, then a few weeks for it to reach him (ebay's shipping is more miss than hit - the price:speed ratio is usually ridiculous).

Bottom line: I'm glad this was posted, these are the kind of deals I look for. Used deals are good too, it's nice to have options, but in this case I'd go for the new copy.
