Model NS42LCD

They had three of them as of July 6th. The sales guys were surprised the price was so low, although none of them recommended the Insignia brand.

Looked pretty sweet. They had it parked next to a 42' Sharp Aquos, and while the blacks were a bit more defined on the Aquos, I couldn't see any major difference in picture quality.

4-year warranty is $269.

I don't know if this is a Canada-wide deal, or just local. Anyway, if I hadn't just bought a house and a motorcycle, I'd pick one up for myself.

just a warning, this tv cannot display 1080p at all with a ps3. I had at least 2 customers return the tv because of that problem.

I know this post is long-dead, but just wanted to say that the Insignia TV's do infact display in 1080p (yes, even this model). However, it only displays it through Component, as mentioned in the manual.

So again, no 1080p in HDMI/DVI, only through Component. And yes, Component looks just as good as HDMI (assuming you get high quality cables), and you don't have to worry about the copy protection schemes that come along with HDMI. ;) I actually purchased my unit in order to have 1080p through Component. Most tv's don't have them.

The TV has 'very' good quality. Only problems, in my opinion, are contrast ratio, as it is fairly low. I think 800:1? it is bad in that sense, you'll notice it in movies with a lot of black. And the menu's/control response are kinda slow.

Insignia and quality dont belong in the same sentence. If you dont mind buying a new one in 12 months or less then by all means go for it.

The price is great. Less than half of other brands.
