Here is only one example of Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. I have heard Denny Somach do many interviews and it seems most of Zeppelin's hits were all ripped off from other artists.

Has anyone else heard this theory? That Zeppelin ripped off a lot of their songs?

They were talking about this the other day on the Howard Stern show.

I think they have been consistent and they are considered one of the greatest bands for a reason

The opening chord progression and verse in "Stairway to Heaven" are nearly identical to the 1968 instrumental "Taurus" by the group Spirit. Led Zeppelin was the opening act for Spirit's 1968 tour, three years before "Stairway To Heaven" was written, but nobody in Led Zeppelin has ever cited influence for the song from "Taurus".

If they did steal any ideas, then in the end, they certainly made them their own.

on a side note, there's a Japanese band called B'z that ripped off Zeppelin's Trample Underfoot and called it Bad Communication

Actually, the rumor I heard was that Zeppelin ripped off a lot of their stuff from a band called The Shmenge Brothers. You may be familiar with their hit "Cabbage Rolls and Coffee"? Anyway, have you by any chance listened to the awful instrumental by Spirit called Taurus? I'm guessing if you did you would realize that Led Zeppelin has nothing to worry about.

The clip the guy played in the OP's youtube video was sure far from convincing.
