I think the A8 is the most beautifully designed sedan on the market. Now that it can be purchased certified pre-owned for under $50K it's a great bargain. Which car would you prefer to own? A used A8L with 2 years warranty or a brand new 328i coupe? They are both similarly priced.

A8L... they are both two different cars...but I think you'd like the A8 better.

But...be prepared to pay for gas on that beast.

Wow this is actually a comparison??? LOL. It's pretty much the exact same thing as asking 328i or 750Li  They're two completely different cars we're talking about here.

How old is the A8? I'd imagine it can only be as old as 2004 given your picture and the fact that it's an L. Despite the price similarity if you're really having problems deciding between these two I suggest you change your choices to one of these other fine comparisons:

Acura CSX v. Lexus LS460L
Audi A3 v. BMW 750Li
Toyota Corolla v. Infiniti Q45
Honda Civic v. Cadillac DTS

All very comparable cars! Incredibly tough decisions!

If you're looking in that range I say forget both.

Used S55 or CL55 are the best cars available period :!:

A used 2004 A8 is available for the same price as a new 328i coupe, it's a valid comparison. I have no interest in the used 745i or S500 because they are too common.

The 2003 CL500 with AMG package is also one of my top choices, but I'm concerned about its reliability.

 Price is not the only thing that makes for valid comparisons. Furthermore price itself does not necessarily make for valid comparisons just because two things are the same price...

If that were the case why aren't you considering the thousands of other cars in that same price range, from all different model years, just because they cost the same.

You don't see people who want to buy a Porsche pondering too hard on whether to buy a Porsche or a Hummer, do you? You don't see people trying to buy a Navigator wondering whether they should buy a Lotus instead, do you?

You're comparing a small, low-end, luxury car with a full-size large flagship luxury car, and saying it's a valid comparison? And it's not like one is from 1990 and the other from 2007. One is only a few years old v. a 2007.

It's no wonder you can't decide. It just sounds like you don't know what you're looking for to begin with. Anyway good luck! Again if you have problems deciding try one of my other comparisons, though you'll probably have just as hard a time deciding...

Perhaps you should try to help out the guy that just can't decide between the silver or white car. LOL. I mean the comparisons on this forum are hillarious. One person can't decide between a silver or white car and makes a huge deal out of it; another person can't decide between a mainstream 3-Series and an A8.

What ES is try to say is, are you actually buying the car to drive and carry people with - in which case, size and number of doors would be a non-trivial factor, or are you buying the car just so you you can dangle the key fob in front of the T&T cashier - in which case, the previous generation Benz M-Class is definitely the car for you. All those middle aged Chinese realtors can't be wrong. Make sure you buy the V6.

So basically you're saying Asian girls are easy pick ups as long as you have German car keys? Guess it's time to trade in the good ol' specV then? :)

i would take the bmw....but get the sedan instead. Audis are great, but what about the cost AFTER the warranty is over. just think of the sensors that europeans cars have.

You could say the same for the BMW - last i heard they were 'euro' too

regular maintenance will make me think about getting the A8L. Given that if nothing goes wrong (which is rarely the case) and all you have to do is the regular maintance it's quite a bit.

If you can afford the 50k for a car then you can afford the extra maintenance.

A8L hands down. The 328i is going to be too common.
I bet even T&T cashiers own them :)

(And I drive a 330i !)

If you are so concerned about reliability, then why consider Audi or BMW?

Purely on design, and personal preference:

can't compare a used A8 that went for over $90k new to a new $50k car.

since you picked those 2 cars.
I'd go with A8.

If you said 335, then it'd be harder to choose.
