I'm planning to buy a Civic 07 EX sedan.

I have narrowed my color choice to either SILVER or WHITE.

I live in Toronto, Canada and I see lots of silver civics. Therefore, I am kind of leaning for the white one since it's more appealing and not many ppl have this color.

I'm not 100% sure about the white since I haven't owned one before. I know that silver is one of the easiest cars to clean since it hides dirt and dust very well. However, I'm not sure if white is the same.

Now here are my questions for people who have experience or knowledge with white-colored Honda Civic vehicles:

1) How's the quality of the white paint hold up so far for the Civic?

2) Is a product like "3M Clear Bra" protective shield recommended to put on the front bumper and front hood on the white color?

3) Has any rock chips or pebbles hit your front-end and left any noticeable marks or scratches?

4) Do you have to clean your car very often? Or does the white paint hold off any evidence of dust or dirt very well? How about compared to SILVER?

5) I live in Toronto, and we experience harsh winter conditions every year. Having said that, do you think the white paint will be effective in hiding dirt during the winter season? Especially the snow salt and muddy roads...???

6) During a snowy day in the winter, do you think the white color will make yourself less visible to other drivers, causing a high probability in accidents on the road?

7) I read from somewhere that a professional car detailer said that white paint is one of the easiest paints to hide imperfections throughout the life of the vehicle? Is this true?

8) Does one color like white or silver effect it's resale value in the future? Like will silver be more demanding than white colored civics when I sale it later on?

Sorry for the bunch of questions I'm asking. It's just that I want to be sure I'm getting the right color since this will be my first car I've ever bought.

Any advice or insights are greatly appreciated! I'm so confused right now...silver or white...hmmm....

I cant stand silver cars...they are just too plain. I would definately go for the white, it will look a lot "cleaner".

White looks good on Honda.....especially the sport or compact car.

Go for White. Silver is blah........boring.

Asking for people's opinions on what color you should get is pointless as they are not the ones who have to live with their opinion. You do...

Here is the question(s) you should ask yourself:

1) Which color grabs your attention immediately?
2) Gut instinct, what color do you prefer if you had to choose one?
3) How often do you clean your car? As another member mentioned, silver hides the dirt better.

You see the answer is really a matter of preference... Go with your gut instinct. Whatever color jumps out at you is your preferred color. Nothing more to say as you will have answered your question right there.

Ask yourself how many old white civics are still on the road .

I'll choose the white. Silver is popular several years ago. Not anymore. I've seen white Civic and it looked good. Especially after you tinted the glasses.

I'm so confused right now...silver or white...hmmm....

You just KNOW that you are inviting sexist comments ("are you a blonde?", "only women worry about that sort of thing", etc. etc.).

As has been said, colour is a personal choice. So go with the one that you prefer, don't worry about what other people think.

It seems that you are aware that silver is hides dirt better, but consider that white is "more appealing and not many ppl have this color (sic)". So, the question you have to ask yourself is, do I want to be 'practical' or 'stylish'?

I live in Toronto, and we experience harsh winter conditions every year.

Compared to Miami, perhaps!

Civic white is a rental car white. White only looks good if it's Pearl White like in the Acura's.

white, silver, lime, are the easiest colour to maintain.

i dun think u'll go wrong with either colour
but i personally like white, and i think the new civic looks good in white also.

Hey guys, so does the white color really turn "yellow" over time? How true is this statement?

Also, is the Civic's Taffeta White paint color the same grade and quality as the Acura TSX/TL's white color? If not, how different are they?

I've always admired the white on the TSX and TL

Can anyone answer this question...

Is there a price difference between Honda's "Altabaster Silver Metallic" vs "Taffeta White"?

The reason why I'm asking is cuz my parents told me that Metallic paint is typically more expensive vs. a paint that is non-metallic (in this case the Taffeta White color). Is this statement true?

Is the quality more cheaper if it's non-metallic?

No more silver cars, please.

Go with white and just spend a bit more time maintaining it.

Pearl white = sexy on any car. Silver = boring.

Take it from me, I have a pearl white car. Sexy!

On the Civic, it's Taffeta White. Not Pearl white. Doesn't pearl white shows more shine?

What kind of vehicle has the pearl white color?

Ya pearl white almost looks like millions of tiny shiny dots everywhere, like a pearl (hence the name I guess).

Tons of cars have this color, mine specifically is actually called Diamond White Pearl (DWP) on a '01 IS300.

White all the way....

this coming from a silver civic driver...silver too "bland" of a color choice.....then again I share car w/the rents, so not much choice in choosing car colors...

do we honestly need people's opinion on what colour to get for a car? it's just down to personal preference but WHITE i would say is the better colour.

Looks like white is the leading candidate for me. However, my main worry with the taffeta white is how it will handle our harsh winter conditions - slush, snow, road salt....etc...

Looks like silver will hide the dirt and is easier to maintain during the winters since the mud turns greyish neway.

My vote is for white.

The Tafetta White is available only on the LX and EX models. That means its a lot less common that the silver which is available on all the models.

As for winter, a dirty car is a dirty car. If you havent washed you car for two weeks, its gonna look like crap regardless if its white or silver.
In general, the white may show splashes more if you drive thru a puddle or similar dirt. If youve got a lot of dust on the car, Id say the silver looks worse because you lose all the shine and it looks like a matte finish quicker than the white does.
BUT wash your car and keep it clean and both will look good.

On other thing. If you browse the Civic forums, theres a lot of complaint that the paint the 8th gen civics is really weak regardless of color.

Get somekind of protection for the hood. From research Ive done, even the new 3M clear protector that is guaranteed not to yellow will discolour and is supposedly the worst on white (obviously). Go with a deflector and you should be ok.

I know who can answer the question: the Honda dealer that you are considering buying the car from! Why don't you just ask them?

white because it gives the illusion that the car looks bigger. plus it hides most things.

too many silvers on the road. rep the white.

You'll never find your car in a full parking lot... silvers everywhere. Where as if you get a white Civic, it'll only be a PITA to find it

Go white

Between silver and white, I'd get white.

But in reality, I'd get red or dark blue. Honda uses really nice shades for both.

Yeah, really. Silver may be common, but white???? :-0

Pretty much every white Civic that I have every seen has had ugly rust streaks ... yuk!

Go white

we could always use the panic button to find our cars in the parking lot. if you are afraid of losing your car in a crowd because it's silver, that would be a weird reason not to buy a silver car.
