Well this was pretty much the last straw. I respect rogers for having the best network, phones, and technology (GSM vs other), but somewhere it has to stop.
It was already the prepaid provider with the highest minutely rate @ 33c/min, and now a sudden boost to 40c, pushing people to higher paygo plans or full blown monthly plans and agreements. Great.
Petro is a much better alternative now, even tough they resell rogers. Hopefully their competitive rates and long expiry will last.
On a personal note, I was completely appalled by the fact that customer service is closed on nights & weekends, completely. So should you have an issue with your phone, your literally fcuked if it happens outside business hours.
Thanks Rogers, but no thanks.

†Effective August 1, 2007, the Anytime rate will change to 40˘.
That sucks, but you can always purchase the $100 Rogers voucher with an expiry date one year after your refill and go for the 39c/minute daytime, 1c/minute 8pm-8am plan. :)

Definately expensive. I always thought at 30 or so cents was too much.
I've been on the dollar-a-day type plan, where I get unlimited evenings and weekends from 6 pm to 8 am. I make sure to only use my phone during those times.. I barely need it anyhow.

A quick word about petro service so far...
Their menu has 4 options, the only thing you need
- Add money
- Check balance
- Edit language settings
- Speak to a rep
There are no annoying reminders and no stupid voice activated prompts. Clean simple, effective.
They also just added 2 new services - *777 to check your balance EVEN faster, and *888 to add money.
En plus, customer service seems to have great hours. It's Canada Day and I was able to reach someone with 2-3 minutes.
A+ so far.
And for those that use it, voicemail is free, (rogers charged YOU airtime when people left messages). You only pay for airtime when you call to check you msgs from your cell. You can check your msgs by calling their local voicemail # on another phone.
