Called Rogers today to cancel the cable service and they said I need
30 days notice, they will cancel the service as of today but will charge me for the next 30 days, does that make any sense at all?? I did not sign any contract with them by the way.

expressvu is the same... rogers needs to send someoen to disconnect you so it makes sense otherwise you'd get cable for free until it's disconnected but with expressvu it's all done remotely so it makes even less sense..

yeah its in their service agreement, it happened to me too. But I called Rogers back a month later to make sure that was the last payment I had to make for my cable service and apparently since I still subscribed to their Internet, that 30 days wasnt required so I only had to pay for my internet charges.

it also happened to me..but i do not thing it make sense, at least for cable internet, i remember 3 years ago, you just need to bring the cable modem to their store, and you get disconnected the same day, no addition charge at all..
i do not think there is any technical problem behind this..they disconnect you in their main terminal, no need to send any technician.
i think rogers do this just to follow other companies (bell make this policy first) and makes your cancellation more difficult:evil:

I had a similar problem with Sympatico recently. I called to cancle and they said that it would take 30 days to disconnect.
I was talking to the Primus people and they mentioned to me to make sure you get an invoice number or reference number from them as sometimes they don't cut it off, and keep charging you.
Then after about 30 days, they sent me a pre-paid purolator bag with a checklist and told me to put my modem in and send it back and to get a stamp on the checklist for a receipt that I sent it.
Horrible way to do things if you ask me, but then again, thats why I left Bell and am leaving Rogers shortly. :cheesygri

It a good way of doing it.However they need to make people more aware of it.
