When I used to work for Staples as a Sales Rep. I was 'empowered' to give $10 off to keep a customer happy etc.
I used my 'power' quite often, most of the time it was just because the customer was friendly and not being a prick. :cheesygri ;)

lol I remember that "power" when I was working at staples, try that at a D-level store and your ass is outta there as quick as you can say easy.

I was pretty much 'untouchable' when I worked there, the management loved me. I was a selling machine. Every sale was going out the door with every attachment...cable, ESP, ink, paper, bag, tech, you name it...One of my better days I sold either $837 or $873 in warranty. The GM was just loving it...meanwhile I was getting paid dick all...
I didn't do anything but walk around and sell. This sounds bad but I worked there for two years and didn't merch once, learn how to use the handheld scanner or do anything with back to shelf. I loved selling the In-Home set-up's as I was the only one that would do them. I usually turned the one-hour set-up into 2-4 hour set-up. ;)
I know that sounds bad but my fellow employees didn't mind it much as they didn't want to talk to customers anyway...
