Anime is a medium. Saying anime sucks is like saying the radio or movies sucks. Anime can incorporate any type of genre, and I've seen some thriller / mystery / suspense series which destroy anything written for a TV show (i.e. Monster and Deathnote).

Naruto and Bleach stink in North America even One Piece...though I prefer One Piece in Japanese...THAT rocks and no clifhangers like Naruto or Bleach. But yes saying anime stinks as a whole...you've got it wrong. I've had people say Captain Planet, GI Joe or Aqua Teen Hunger Force was anime..that shocked me.

And for the record, like any genre, there are good, bad and the exceptional anime series/movies/ovas.
