In another post (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=457214), I recently surprised a fellow RFDer that Best Buy has changed its 110% (match plus 10% of the difference) guarantee down to just plain old PRICE MATCHING.
That makes Future Shop's 'Lowest Price Guarantee' the best of the big store electronics.
I figured I should quote the entire text... (See for yourself)
http://www.futureshop.ca/informationcentre/EN/retailpolicies.asp?logon=&langid=EN#01
Our Lowest Price Guarantee
Get it for less. Guaranteed™.
We will beat any advertised price by 10% of the difference.
3 great reasons to buy at Future Shop.
1) If you find a lower advertised price we will beat it by 10% of the difference.
2) If you find a lower advertised price within 30 days* of your purchase we
will beat it by 10% of the difference.
3) If our own price is reduced within 30 days* of your purchase, bring in your
receipt and we will refund the difference.
* 14 days for computers, laptops, monitors, printers, camcorders, digital cameras, portable DVD players, radar detectors, projectors and air conditioners.
Here’s how it works.
If you are purchasing today:
Present us with a copy of the competitor’s current ad.
Our associates will verify that the item is in stock and available for
immediate sale and delivery at the advertised price.
We will beat the competitor’s price by 10% of the difference.
If you purchase the item from futureshop.ca and there is no Future Shop in your area you can contact us at 1-800-663-2275 or by email at websupportcan@futureshop.com
If you made your purchase in the last 30 days*:
Present us with a copy of the competitor’s current ad and your original invoice.
Our associates will verify that the item is in stock and available for
immediate sale and delivery at the advertised price.
We will refund you the difference and give you an additional 10%
of that difference.
If you purchase the item from futureshop.ca and there is no Future Shop in your area you can contact us at 1-800-663-2275 or by email at websupportcan@futureshop.com
If our own price is reduced in the last 30 days*:
Present us with a copy of our original invoice.
We will refund you the difference between the purchase
price and the current price.
* 14 days for computers, laptops, monitors, printers, camcorders, digital cameras, portable dvd players, radar detectors, projectors and air conditioners
Here are a few terms and conditions.

Does that mean Best Buy will start price matching properly like NCIX does now? Don't think so - that's probably just wishful thinking
And I would bet FS will move in the same direction sooner or later, consistent corporate policy and whatnot
What the OP is stating is that Best Buy has changed to 100% only, no more 110

Partly true. I remember the good old days when it was like 150% or 155%.
Anyways, just recently you could 110% BB vs. FS or
FS vs. BB.
Now, this means that whenever you find something lower at FS, just go there.
No need to go to BB.

Well now BestBuy has lost a lot of (RFD) customers. :b

Oh - don't get me wrong. I'm not excited - I don't like FS anyways - usually poor service, unknowledgeable staff, problems PMing.
But I wanted to do a RFD public service since if you look at the posts, many people did not notice that out of FS and BB, FS is the only store with 110% now.
Given this, aren't you excited? (I'm still not, though)

You forgot Staples, Canadian Tire, and Home Depot.
Anyways, thanks for letting me know that Best Buy changed their policy, but I don't see why this thread was needed when the other thread already commented about Best Buy changed their policy.

When I wrote that post, I was referring to my earlier post about Future Shop being the only big-box electronics retailer that offers 110% now.
Yes - I know about Staples (office supplier, some electronics) and Home Depot (home improvement).
Btw, Canadian Tire is not 110%. It's just 100% match + 10% in Canadian Tire Money for a FUTURE purchase at Canadian Tire only. Heck, you can't even use it at the Canadian Tire Gas Bars...

Why start a new thread referring to something else that already has a thread of its own? Just making a post in that Best Buy thread would have been sufficient...

Why start a new thread?
1. Higher impact (more RFDers will see one or the other)
2. BB's 100% is listed in Expired Deals (Dead: BB....)
3. FS's 110% instantly becomes 'a hot deal' by virtue of this
That's why I posted it originally in HOT DEALS, but someone moved it to Shopping Discussion.

Jon Lai,
I'm sorry if you don't find 110% to be hot compared to 100% price matching.
If you simply want to run around like a fool and feel good for just PMing @100% basis, then be my guest.
The last time I checked, the price of gas was rising or staying high, so that would not be the wisest thing.
All others (except Jon Lai),
On the other hand, Thanks to those who appreciated my set of threads about FS's 110% lowest price guarantee vs. BB's new 100% Price Matching policy.

You misunderstood me. I love saving the extra 10%. But the fact that it's already a known thing across RFD does not make a deserve a thread in HOT DEALS.
And again, I thank you for letting us know that BB no longer gives the extra 10%, but that doesnt' mean Futureshop should now deserve a thread of its own because it still has it - heck, put one up for Staples, Home Depot, and all the rest of them then. You need a thread when BB changes their policy - you don't need a thread when FS DOESN'T change their policy...

Point taken. I understand. And you're welcome! Btw, thanks for your input on my other thread about wii vs. PS2, etc...
It also looks like my PM poll just "disappeared"...

This only works when FS chooses to honour their 110% policy. They've on many occasions argued they shouldn't even honour the policy unless I purchase the item first vs. before paying. Ugh.

Either prior to purchase or within 30 days of purchase (14 days for computers, monitors, printers, notebook computers, camcorders, digital cameras, radar detectors, portable DVD players, and air conditioners) should you find a lower advertised price, including those on the internet from an authorized Canadian Dealer, we will match that price and beat it by giving you an additional 10% of the difference.

from the best buy website. I have no idea what you guys are talking about - Best Buy will match + give you the 10% of the difference... they won't do it with unauthorized sellers (CC) or they won't match a membership company (costco) ... they will only match and not beat the 10% on futureshop claiming it is not a competitor but a sister company.

Well, what does that matter? If they made me do that (which they haven't) I would just buy it, use it, take the receipt in for the price match. If they didn't honour the price match I would just return it...bigger cost to them as now they have an open box to sell...

I work at Best Buy, they haven't told us anything about changing the price match policy.
I really doubt they'd change the policy at Best Buy and not Future Shop.

That's strange. When smartcdn posted this, I thought the same thing "WTF?" and went to check the Best Buy website, and indeed, nothing showed up when I CTRL+F-ed "beat" and "10%". Something's up here.. foresight?

Online PM from any of the major stores is a waste of time, rather there is 10% or not. If im buying any comp part and i want PM, its a much better idea to either A) Try in store, fail = Goto NCIX/A-power/Anitec. The reason is no matter what PM you get online, you will pay for shipping. There is a good chance the shipping will cancel out 10% and make it more expense. The PM process is also a lot slower.
