i'm looking for nice beach trunks, and i see a few guys wearing abit tighter around the knees+longer beach trunks. BUt when i go find them, they're always really lose and "wide".

but i seem to have found these so called "Boardshorts Pro Model" by ripcurl. pictures:

compared to regular beach trunks:

i checked out ripcurl store, but the "pro model shorts" are like $80+.

is there a better, more generic name these trunks go by so i can buy them for cheaper..?

The regular and "pro" model boardshorts you gave on the RipCurl site there will be more or less the same. Where you think the "pro" model ones are slimmer and not as loose, it's the the way they've taken the pictures. The "pro" model pictures have been taken on a mannequin if you look at them, making them seem slimmer, where the normal ones have been laid flat for the pics. Trust me, all boardshorts fit VERY similar; it;s just what boardshorts are. Go to Sporting Life or Boathouse and try a bunch on from different brands, you'll see.

On that note, I would expect to see sales on boardshorts starting very soon as these places have to make room for their fall product.
