My phone is unlocked and I have test it with foreign SIM cards (Cingular) so I know it works. I'm just wondering what the prepaid options are? Is it cheap? I'm only going to be there for the summer so I don't intend to subscribe to any plans. Does anyone here know if the minutes will roll over to the next month? Will getting a card from one of the wireless companies in Beijing work in Shanghai or Tianjin? How much is a SIM card there?

I can't specifically answer your questions, but I was in China for the month of May. I got a prepaid card in Guangzhou and was able to use it Beijing. I wasn't exactly sure what the rate was, but I know it wasn't that expensive. The prepaid card that I got (with sim card included) was only 50 RMB.

Did you used China Mobile? Does the prepaid plan include international calling rates? If so, do you know what the rate is to call Canada?
