I have a PCMCIA wireless networking card (Netgear WG511T) that has recently begun to give me problems. The computer I using this card in -> Dell Inspiron 4100 running XP home. The problem is that when I insert it in the computer (either starting up with it already in or inserting it when the computer has booted up) it crashes!
Previously the card and computer were working fine together
FWIW, wired internet connections work fine (using it to post this)
I have tried to uninstall the software thinking that I would just reinstall, but the "remove program" function (either through the control panel>add rem programs or using the "uninstall Netgear software" through the Windoze programs button (prolly the same program anyways) does not work). I cannot do a manual delete of the folder as the computer declares that Aegis5.dll is in use and cannot be deleted (seems to be some sort of wireless .dll acording to Google).
I am getting close to exercising the only solution that I can think of which is erasing the HD and reinstalling a Ghost version that I made last time I cleaned up the HD and reinstalled all the basics (OS+programs)! Obviously I am hoping to avoid this, but I am not sure what else to do. I would like to get another PCMCIA card to test the ports to make sure that they are not in some way corrupted, but I will have to ask around with some friends to get something to try first!
anyways, can anyone offer suggestions to try before I reinstall?
