I am looking for a software that can help me create a backup of my whole HDD including operating system. I know Norton Ghost is a likely candidate but it does not seem to work on Vista.
I downloaded it and installed it on my Vista but it would not recoginze any of my HDDs.I checked the Norton website and it said that Ghost is for platforms upto XP (i.e. does not include Vista).
Any suggestions on what I can do?

Vista has a built-in backup feature that does exactly what you described. I believe it's called the Backup & Restore Center or something to that effect.

Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 7.0 ... formerly V2i

Awesome for take complete images of your system and all of it's harddrives. The image it creates is not hard specific, so you can move the image to any system, all you need to do install the missing drivers.

This is what we use at my workplace.

I've used that a few times now and it's pretty decent. Very simple to use and does a pretty good job at compression (35+ GB to 25 GB). It backs up your entire OS as well as any other partitions you select.
