Hi All,

I recently signed up with VIOP via babytel.ca and am finding the service to be surprisingly good. This is the first time I have used VOIP so I cannot really compare it to anything except for my Telus Lan line which I hope to get rid of soon.

There is one feature that babytel.ca is lacking and I'm hoping somebody here may be able to tell me a voip provider that does offer this. I'm looking for a good voip provider that allows you to log into your account and enter 2 telephone numbers to call. (eg. enter your cell phone number, then enter a longdistance destination). There are some companies that offer this service separately and not with voip (eg. www.voipbuster.com)

Even if you do not know of a voip provider that offers this feature, please post your voip provider and how you are finding there services.

Thanks!

Voxalot does this... You can use any provider you choose, and voxalot will take care of the rest... It's call WEBCALLBACK and it's free...

www.voxalot.com

I use it and it works pretty good.... Some delays sometimes but other than that it's not bad.

Saves you LD on your cellphone, and if you have unlimited incoming on your cell, it also saves your bucket of minutes. Yak does a similar service - you call a number that will never answer, they call you back, and you just dial the number you want to call.

I have used Primus canada (www.primus.ca) for one year and it is OK.

Sometimes the system will hang (no dial tone) and I have to unplug/re-connect the voip gateway to restore the service. This is likely due to the fact that it is also plugged into another router, so it seems to be the other router causing the problem.

if you plug the voip gateway into the modem and configure the voip gateway to be your router this problem will probably stop. it did for me anyways..

The other (Linksys) router is necessary for a wireless network (voip gateway is not wireless).

yes it is necessary but you still can do it like i said. The linksys wireless will still handle the wireless but the voip gateway will handle the dhcp and connecting to the internet. you plug your modem into one port of the gateway and your wireless router into the other one.

its not plug and play but its not too difficult to setup. if you call primus support they will tell you how to do it.

there are many providers who can offer you the incoming number services.

Try reading my award winning Free VOIP (http://voipguides.blogspot.com) blog you might get all the info you are looking at. Cheers

vbuzzer offers this service. They're in toronto and you can get a toronto phone number with unlimited local calls for $5 mnth, + I think it's another $5 for the callback service that you can use on your cell phone.

http://www.jajah.com/ also provides the service if you stick with your current provider, but its per minute even local.

This is what I need to do as well. I tried it, but when it wasn't plug and play, I just switched back, and haven't had any real hassles, but when I get to my new place, I will certainly go this route. Thanks for that.

I explored every setup combination when I obtained the voip hardware and the way it is now is optimal. Many customers of Primus using this particular Linksys router have posted the same problem and one resolution is to change the firmware of the Linksys product to a previous version. I just have not bothered to do so.
