I am trying to do a system recovery but it goes to a blue screen that says some error and its missing files or is corrupt. Anyone know how to reset the system recovery drive or fix this problem? I don't got my windows disk so i cant reformat.
The blue screen says:
STOP: c000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file)
\Systemroot\System32\config\SECURITY
Or its log or alternate.
Is is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

If you didn't make your recovery discs, you are pretty much out of luck.

I have done this many times without making a recovery disk and it has worked. Im not sure why its doing this problem now.

You can't recreate the recovery partition, that is why HP tells you to make the discs. If you have corrupt or missing files on the partition, there is nothing that can be done.

A recovery disc can be ordered from HP's wetsite.
