I was wondering if this lacoste shirt is fake, as far as i can tell, the devanley tag is good, so are the buttons as they have distinct mother of pearl look and feel to them and the crocodile does indeed have two eyes on the tag
Heres a couple of pics:

Can you take better macro pics of the croc and the tags? Hard to see cuz it's blurry. Not that hard to take better macro pics. You just need something solid to put the camera on and possibly better lighting.

I got it from an uncle today, but I wanted to get this checked before I wear it, the last thing I want is to be caught in public with a fake

Well the offical answer is no. But he is those "chinese"/fobby uncles, so there is a possibility that he got it from Pmall...Pmall. Well if it turns out to be fake it'll be the thought that counts, if it is authentic all the better.

go to the lacoste store and compare with another polo or you could even ask the staff if its authentic. wouldnt hurt to ask i dont think.

Judging by the quality, its an A grade fake.
But the crock clearly shows its a fake...but you never know.
depending on where you got it and for how much, and if you can compare to a real one.
you can also tell by the quality of the fabric

Ya most people come up to me with a magnifying glass to check whether or not my logo is legit.
Fabulaz can explain it himself, it happens to him all the time.

The crock on his looks real to me. I just checked my shirt (bought it at Lacoste) and the crock looks quite similar.

According to monty's picture of the croc your is fake.
Like the fake croc in the picture your croc also have the jagged edges going between the croc. Where as the real one is curved and not jagged.

Ahhh, so its fake? I don't have lacoste personally, so i can't compare. Im usually constrained to cheaper brands like mexx, and tommy

this is why the lacoste brand has lost so much cachet

its fake. The tag on the collar is wrong. Anyone who disagrees plz go check out any site that sells brand name clothing and then argue. If you want neimanmarcus.com has lacoste shirts. Look under classic pique polos and when you see the tag you know yours is fake. Also your wash tag under the inside of your polo will have a printed tag, the real one is supposed to have green stiching. Also it shouldn't say *Devanlay*, only Devanlay. As for the collar tag it is only supposed to have the lacoste not the made in peru designed in france part.

There's a good chance that it is fake, as pointed out by others in this thread.
What's more important though is, why the heck would anybody still want to wear a pink Lacoste polo? Are you going to be running the popped collar too? Are you looking to maximize the "douchebag" effect?
billdozer
Jun 12th, 2007, 09:25 AM
I've said it before and I'll say it again,
well if you pop your collar of your pink polo and don't feel like a 100% legit douchebag, then it's probably fake

very few can tell if it's authentic or not. you'll be able to tell after a few washes.
based on the tag, I suspect it could be a knockoff.
Here's a post I put up. You can see a real tag:

There should only be one tag on the back of the shirt, that is the Lacoste tag
And the real Lacoste dont have the Made in whatever whatever tag on the back,

some people (me being one of them) do not want to wear fakes; not because of other people knowing (although that is a factor) but more of a peronal matter.
i rather wear something cheaper than a fake. so if i got a gift and its a fake, i wont wear it.

I have 2 different Lacoste Polo's one was bought in Vegas and one was bought in Hong Kong, both from a official Lacoste Store. They are the complete opposite. The Hong Kong one only has the one tag by the collar, yet the one from the states has two. The one from the states has *Devanlay* the one from Hong Kong just has Devanlay.

if it's fake, i would just wear it at home.
i would never buy fake stuff unless i don't know it's a fake or a copy of authentic brand.
one fake item you wear makes all other stuff you wear fake because other people would only remember you are wearing fake stuff.

props to you OP for not wanting to support the illegal business of fakes.
People sometime ask what's the big deal, but recent news about the "fake" toothpaste and such should make people realize that this "industry" can and does hurt.

...what's the big deal?
I buy clothes that I think look nice and don't care about the tag or brand. Fake or not it's an ugly shirt so I wouldn't buy it but if it looked nice I wouldn't care.

Call him out? lol, do you think he would be embarrassed? Honestly if I saw someone call another person out over a fake t-shirt I would feel more embarrased for the person doing the calling out.
I feel like I'm back in high school...

Just enjoy it, wear it. It looks pretty good to me. You've posted close-up pics on here and people are still back and forth about real/fake, so anyone on the street who's not gonna have any more than a passing glance will definitely not be able to tell.
I have two Lacoste shirts, both purchased from Lacoste stores and they're each slightly different. Mine are both made in Morroco it seems too.

Wait. Wasn't this the thread where insecure people with too little money or too much time spent 3 pages talking about whether a Lacoste polo was fake, even though it looked totally real except for the tags?
For posterity: I would never call someone out and don't even own a Lacoste polo, I just thought it would be funny to post as you people seem to take this really seriously.

Well I can't really wear fake clothing because a couple of my family members are quite known and their business associates and friends would definitely talk behind my back about it how "so and so's daughter wears fake clothing"
so I just don't own anything fake, but I do try and get stuff on sale if possible. I probably spend way too much on clothing though :)
but u should enjoy what you wear...
