I'm a male, at 6'1 and around 220lbs, and I remember the good ole days of being 175 lbs...
Do I need to lose about 20 lbs to fit a size 34?

More like 30 - 40 pounds dude.
some place like The Gap makes a "larger" 34 so you probably can sneak in tightly if you lost 30 pounds.

For reference, I'm 6'3" and 195 and I'm a 34. So I'm both 2 inches taller and 25 pounds lighter than you. On the other hand, I don't have the world's greatest "V" frame, so someone my height/weight could certainly have a slightly smaller waist.

It really depends on the pair of jeans, but generally you should be in the 34 area comfortably in most pairs if you got down to about 185-190ish. Depends how tight/loose you like them.

I'm 6' - 190lbs and a size 35 in jeans. Depends on your beer gut too.

5'10" 190Lbs here, and lately I feel much more comfortable in a size 36.
I mostly wear Guess, ProjekRaw, CK, Tommy.
I have somewhat of a gut however, so that could be my problem.

5'11", 190lbs - Size 33-34. I'd say at 6'1" you could get into a 34 at 200lbs easily depending on where you lost the weight.
Since muscle weighs 3 times as much as fat, it's really impossible to accurately answer your question. You could diet the weight off which would make you thinner and lighter, or you could work out which would end up with you losing weight (from cardio) and then putting it back on as you add muscle. It's quite possible for you to be 220lbs and also fit a 34.

You sure you want to lose all that weight?
The one thing I miss about being chubby is that clearance clothes were always in my size... and this is RFD, after all.

i think you'll easily fit into a 34" if you drop to 200lbs range.
i'm 6'2 and 195-200lb and i wear 33"-34" waist in jeans (levi's, earnest sewn's, diesel)...just dont go for the slim fit cuts and you'll be fine:lol:

I'm 6'1" 220lbs and I wear 34 khakis and 36 jeans. The khakis are snug (but not tight) and the jeans are loose enough that a belt is an absolute requirement.
Just goes to show you it's not all about the weight.

what kind of jeans/fit do you wear though? ya its not all about the weight, but also build and fit of jeans/brand is important too

6"2, 200, size 32.
Depends on the cut of the jeans and your build.

Look....Heres the thing, From the first page, you didnt state your current waist size.
And Im 5'10-11'' (depends on the force of gravity...lol)
and i was up to 210 on Christmas break, and down to 190 march break.
I was a 36 christmas and still only a 35 during march break.
Now, im 196-201 (depends on when i ate and when i weighed) and a 34.
But say i eat alot or feel filled with gas, ill be a 36
So really It doesnt matter you weight and height, it matters how you plan to lose those few pounds.
If you do core training...you can lose more inches then trying to lose it running i guess...but it really just depends.

Definitely depends on your build. I'm 5'10, 175 and I fit a 28''. Do a lot of core exercises, really helps.

6'1 and even at my recent low of 200lbs, I could in no way fit a 34. Would have had to lose down to 190 or less at a minimum to even have a chance--likely less.

It's a difficult, if not impossible, question to answer because everyone's body composition is different.
I'm wider at the hips, so I had to drop down to 175 lbs. to be able to wear 34" trousers.
Your best bet is trial and error. Keep hitting the gym, and keep the measuring tape nearby. ;)
Best of luck to you!

I'm 5'8" weighing at 155lbs and fit into 32".
I agree you will need to loose at least 20-30 for starters. Then again I agree on the structure of your built that depends alot. Good luck!

6'1" would be a 34 at about 180 to 190 lb. I'm 205 now and definately a 36

I'm 5'10, weigh about 135, and need a 31" in a Levi slim fit or 30 in a Levi relaxed fit.
To the OP, I wouldn't worry about waist size. The important thing is to be healthy.

Going to have to agree with many of the other posts here: it depends on your build.
For instance, I'm a little under 5'11" at ~185 lbs, and I wear 30/31.

I'm 6.2 and 180lb. Was pushing 200lb this winter and 34 jeans were just right. Now they are barely holding onto my hips. I can probably wear 30 now.

u guys fat or weird shaped gut?
im 5'10 180 lbs and i fit into 28
its not about losing weight.

u need to lose fat.

Yea i agree with nolimtzel. It really depends on how much fat and muscle you have. Muscle weighs more than fat. So if person weighs 250 at 6' 2" he could still have a 32" waist because most of his weight is muscle.
For reference
i'm 6' @ 185 lbs with a 30 inch waist.
this also depends where your weight is, in terms of proportion (more on the legs, arms, chest, etc..) not everyone's body it proportion the same.
