You shouldn't have to use "disposable income" for beef jerky! It should be included in your budget along with your other bills! :D

i am new to all of this beef jerky (especially purchasing online)...if these are 1 pound bags and each piece is 28grams u would get approx 16 pieces per bag(correct me if wrong)...so basically $1 each piece...is this a good $?...i have never bought jerky but usually just glace at it at stores and it is usually $1 a piece...no?
or is this some super good jerky?
sorry if am info is wrong.

That's per serving, not per piece (ie: 1 serving = the amount an average person would eat in one sitting assuming you weren't addicted to it) :)

i bet this thread will turn into a stupid "traditional jerky" vs. "asian jerky" thread
it always does because asians think this stuff is comparable cause they share the word "jerky"
its like saying your wonton soup is better than my campbells chunky chicken noodle soup
EDIT: Great jerky btw. I got my 8lb order in the mail on monday. great studying snack. great for camping too. my bro is taking 2lbs camping this weekend.

Customs should not tax food. BJ marked my packages as samples.
Flavor is really personal. I like fiery hot, kid like teriyaki and BBQ. Original is good too. I usually order some of each to satisfy the different moods.
Still waiting for my 4# @ $53.50 (ordered May 31, shipped June 4)

Talk about creating a self fullfulling prophecy. 2 Minutes ban for instigating an argument. BTW: Wonton noodle is way better then Campbell chick noodle. This jerky is nothing compare to Asian stuff

can this be correct...best consumed within 3 DAYS after opening?
http://numerouno.jerkydirect.com/images/232B.gif
and your jerkydirect post relates to big john's how? if jerkydirect brand jerky says that for their jerky, then it must be true.
I can kill a pound of jerky in 3 days easy since is so addictive but i usually dont and i dont see any loss of quality with big john's by keeping it over 3 days.
they come in vacuum sealed ziplock bags.

There's always a sale going on. The last email special did note due to USPS increasing shipping rates from 7.50 to 9.00 they may add a shipping charge. For my $53.50 order it was shipped in May in 2x7.50 envelops. It's now $9 each so 18 bucks out of $53.50 is a third going to shipping, ouch!

Beef sliced razor/medium thin, buy a nice hickory marinade and mix it up.
Let it sit in the marinade for at least 24 hours.
I guarantee you that the smell from the food dehydrator will drive you absolutely insane with hunger before you're done.
Well worth the investment, as nothing beats homemade jerky.
I see here that the jerky companies add MSG to bump the flavor, may be worth adding some if your marinade doesn't already have it.
Oh and I suppose it's worth adding that you should follow directions on hours
for safety reasons.

Tried them all. Teriyaki definitely has the soy sauce flavor. BBQ has the BBQ sauce flavor. Fiery hot is best for those who like it spicy. Original taste like most other jerky. Flavor wise BJ is nothing special. I like it more for the lean beef. Doesn't leave that oily after taste.
Sure glad I got my 8# @ the $13.38/# price.

If your order is like mine, they shipped USPS Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelope.
If you read the USPS site, it looks like this grade of shipping does NOT include tracking (though the email does indeed imply that it does).
So, the Harrisberg location will NEVER change; all that site is telling you is that it was picked up, and that is all it will ever tell you.
Mine apparently left June 14th... I think that means that I've got some time until it arrives... Guess I'm looking at 10 days?

My shipment finally arrived. Two USPS mail were dropped off infront of my apartment door, luckily, no one picked them up.
Initial reaction to the very hyped-up beef jerkies. I am an avid beef jerky eater. I ordered 4lbs of each flavour...I opened up the Teriyaki flavour first. It didn't have much taste but I do like the texture. Then I tried the Fiery Hot flavour, not too impress with both bags so far.
Still have BBQ and Original to try...

Mouth on fire!!!! hot jerky is too hot!!! I'm just finishing off the last 1/2 pound of the 2 pound mixer pack... This is fantastic jerky.. I loved the bbq and teryaki.. The hot is a bit too hot for my tastes..

Received my jerky late last week -- very good stuff. Brought in a bag for work to share with my colleagues: 8 men, 1lb = 3 hours. Tons of jerky!
In fact, I think I may have ordered too much ;) . If anyone's looking to buy 1lb of original to try it out, send me a pm!

does anyone know what's the expiry date on these jerky? I bought 1 lb bag a few month ago, wonder if they are still good or should I throw it out already?
BTW, I noticed that when you open up a new bag, they smell a bit acidic, I wonder if it's from the citric acid they add. Anyone else noticed that?

Never too much! 3 men / 1lb / 1 hour last Friday night hot tubbing (girls were there as well) and a "few" beers.
