The MediaTek 1389-based RJ-800DVX is at Anitec for $39.95 right now. It's been going on for a few days but there's still 40 units left as of this posting. I've been using mine for 2 years now and still going strong. Nice unit, decent price.

i'm guessing everyone would rather pay $30 (EDLP) for the Daenyx ones found at TRU?

I got to think twice before buying anything from Anitec!
You will be charged both ways for shipping even if the item arrives DEAD (DOA).

Quick question on the subject of Divx DVD Standalone players...
Has anyone found a SA Divx DVD player that can play subtitles (the srt/idx/sub files included along with avi)???
I found this frustrating with these players. I suppose I should buy an xbox and use media center which can do the job. Just curious if a standalone does that now, but I doubt it.

The Daenyx one plays some types of subtitles, though I can't remember which type off the top of my head.

Lots, if not most, of them do. My cheap Kosch from FS does.

Daenyx DV2001 can play 'srt' subtitle, but a bit too small.
