I have a 32" CRT TV. My brother and i aren't weak either. but the TV has no good grip whatsoever. The bottom of the TV has a sharp edge running right across, and it can cut right through my hand.

I'll be moving the TV up and down some stairs to move it to the basement.

So i'm hoping those moving straps are worthwhile and can enable us to move the TV with ease.

Anyone with experience using these?

Cost of renting them from Home Depot?

No experience with these straps, but if you're afraid of cutting your hand, wear some gloves. That's what I do when I move things that can potentially cut me.

Put a face cloth on your hand and pick up the TV. When I moved the last two times, I moved my 32" CRT TV by myself with my bare hands (and no, I'm not claiming I'm stronger than you or anyone else on here). Surely you can manage to do it with someone else helping.

Trust me. It's very hard with this TV. It's the weight really, its the awkward shape and design. I could wear gloves, but then the only real grip, which is like a blade, is lost in my gloves.

Geeh it's not that heavy... only about 80lbs or so.

The best thing to use to protect your hands is the padded leather weight lifting gloves

carry it in a blanket.

each person gathers up the corners.

U can use gloves to grip the fabric better.

My 34" widescreen SONY is 300lbs ... Me and a friend broke our backs getting it in the house. Getting it down to the basement was even a bigger challenge.

getting it down is a breeze.. here's a trick that I used before.. get a small mattress and put the mattress on the stairs.. place the tv on the mattress while 2 guys stabelizing it on the mattress and then slide the mattress down slowly.

My panasonic Gaoo was a 34" and it was not 300 lbs.

Man, I remember almost breaking my back while moving a crt sony tv. They weigh so much. But anyways, that blanket idea looks like it'd be a good solution. All you'd need is a thick one.

Just yesterday i moved mine down but it wasn't widescreen. but i had to use a dolly cart and go down one step at a time with another lifting the dolly up a little so the cart doesn't hit each step too hard. It was a pain to take that tv down.

But i guess it was for the better. Now im enjoying my 46" Sharp Aquos. :D

I've used the straps to move appliances. They work fantastic but you still have to be careful that the guy on the bottom end doesn't stumble going backward up and down stairs because it's easy to go to fast.

My buddy has a set, he used to be a mover. Don't know where you can get them, but I am recommending them to you.

Hahahaha, i wish it was 80lbs. If it was 80lbs, i'd haul it on my back.
