Sunoco convenience store, Richmond Hill.
I ask for a king small pack of Canadian Light. The lovely lady asks me for ID.
w00t?
I'm 35. I don't look old, but don't look young either. I smile.
I grow a beard, some gray hair here and there. I point to them. We laugh. Supervisor steps in, smiling, she says that they have to ask, blah blah, new rules..
We laugh, we had a good time chatting....

Go to a sketchy chinese convince store. They are really easy and they never ask me for ID to buy lottery tickets (even though I can), Cigs would probably be easy to get to but i dont smoke :P

Take it as a compliment...
I don't know why some people get so uptight about being ID'd; it doesn't take THAT long to whip it out and show them.

Or just go to Quebec. You can be 12 and still buy booze and cigarettes in Quebec. I remember I took the ex-GF to the Montreal casino when she was underage (this was a long time ago) and she won $1500 on her first pull at the slot machine (first ever pull at any casino). We were worried they were going to ID her and not give her the money, but they didn't even hesitate.

I was OK with the whole situation. She asks for ID, I smiled, she smiled back. Supervisor steps in, smiiling.
Actually we had a good time talking about the subject.

You're totally right, I've done it during trips into or through Quebec. I think the cut off is midnight though, after that, they lock the coolers.

Quebec is more like the states. You can buy booze at the corner stores (no LCBO) and you only have to be 18.
Why do you think Montreal is so popular among young people? (Besides the obvious heritage reasons )

in the states they have really high age limits for booze and gambling...
usually 21... in some states 25.
Some people are trying to push the age limit to 30.

Quebec has SAQ (the Quebec equivilant of the LCBO) and you can buy beer/wine in any store. I believe only SAQs can sell liquors though.

Are you sure about that? I was buying cigarette paper in high school (because it was good for cleaning moisture from underneath the keypads of musical instruments.) Never got ID'd.
