im a newb at sunglasses, ive never really thought of them that much. but bcuz im older, and more aware of the dangers of cataracts, etc. i want to find a good quality pair of sunglasses, preferably dark.

i find that sunglasses that are $10-20 range are crap and not dark enuf. but i dont want to spend a bundle (my ceiling price would be $40) on sunglasses.

anyone with good experience?

if you are really concerned with all that.. 40 dollars wont cut it.. go get a pair of oakley polarized lens.. those will certainly do the trick and reflect not just reduce

Especially since you're concerned with your eyes... $40 isn't going to get you anything.

Sunglasses are just like normal glasses. You wouldn't expect to get a pair of worthy glasses for $40 would you?

well if you're only looking to get uv protection, a pair of dollar store sunglasses has almost the same protection as expensive sunglasses. the thing that makes a pair of expensive sunglasses expensive, is the polarization that removes glare, darker lenses to block visible light, lighter and better lense and frame, and looks...

to op...if you're not looking to spend much just go to the dollar store or if you want ones that don't look like turd...those kiosks in the malls that sell copies of expensive sunglasses for like 15-20 bucks, and lense colour won't make a huge difference in protection for your eyes unless you're normally wearing ones that are barely tinted, since visible light is a lot less harmful than uv

Actually the 40$ range can get you very functional sunglasses...with all of the unnecessary protection. At this price point, you are not paying for look and style (or possibly construction)....

You have to up your budget a bit if you want something that is good quality (both frame and lenses) and looks good.

If you know somebody with a Costco membership, go with them. Costco has good selection of sunglasses from brands like Serengeti, Bolle and others. And they sell them for sometimes half the original price. I picked up a pair of Serengeti driving glasses for $90 that used to sell for $230.

Try the Oakley Vault store in Vaughn Mills Mall I saw a section of discontined items for $49.xx and up, you might find something there.

If you just want some sunglasses to wear for the summer,
but don't really care how long they are going to last,
you can try going with the knock-off sunglasses.
