Seems decent for whats included, not your average computer. I have an upgraded x41 next to me here at work that I use sometimes - wonderful machiene. I think the X series and the T series are comparable, except for the tablet aspects.

That is a pretty good deal on a nicely equipped Thinkpad! If I sell my Macbook, I probably will have to get one!

What how did you get it down another $80? Visa perks' site just shows $1599.
Also how do we get that EPP price? :)

you have to have a friend who works at Lenovo. why don't you just use the visaperks link, it's only $20 more, with the same specification.

If I can save 20$ more I'll :) I'm actually looking for a notebook... I'm able to get a Lenovo N100 T7200 for 1200$ with tax... don't know what to do

FYI - today, May 9, Lenovo as well as most of the other laptop MFRs released their newest models based on the new Intel Centrino Pro platform (formerly "Santa Rosa"). Some users (from notebookreview.com) reported that the new Lenovo models T61 are less expensive that the equivalent T60 models.
If you need a laptop right now - go for it - it is a nice machine, but if you don't - I do not see the rush to buy it now (IMHO).
So far there is no information available on Lenovo-Canada regarding these.

Yep, the T61 and T61p are now on the lenovo us site, and they do look to be (modestly) cheaper than the old T60 and T60p used to be... hopefully that'll translate to saving a few bucks north of the border too!

all the large computer corps (hp, dell, lenovo acer etc) have released new versions of laptops with the santa rosa platform as of this morning. might want to check those new laptops out first.
notebookreview.com has info on the latest releases.

This 7TP has the exact the same specs as the 5BU model.
Damn, I just bought the 5BU model last week through somebody who works at Lenovo. They have a no 30 day exchange and refund policy for those who bought through this route.
This is what I get for being so impatient

For thos interested, the Turbo Memory card for T61 will be available later.
I called technical center and it'll be possible to add the card to the notebook later. Actually, the part is not listed but it'll be soon.
