I'm thinking about buying a secondary monitor for my computer but i was looking at the HDTV's (19-22 inch)

Is there any difference?

yes, tv's don't have high resolutions like monitors.

and TV usually implies that it has a TV tuner for watching......TV.

A 1080p LCD TV at 27" should come close to having a good enough resolution, but bear in mind that 24" monitors have an even higher resolution (vertically) than even these TVs.

i think atleast in the 19 inch range the resulotion is the same and the main differences is tv hook ups, responce time and price.

if your going to use it as a computer monitor then save a few hundred (ussually) and just buy the monitor style - you can get the widescreen if you plan on buying a hd tv tuner card for the pc.

honestly i think the costs for a 19-20 inch tv-monitor are messed up compared the what 32 inch hdtv lcd's are going for. you would think that smaller would be drastically cheaper but lower in size you go the less you save - and i mean $ per inch ratio.

anyways keep an eye out on the price and compare to higher sizes. honestly would be nice to have a 32 inch monitor ;)

also the higher monitors (not tvs) like someone posted have much higher resolutions and so you have to make sure atleast if your a game player that your card can handle that resolution with the eye candy you like turned on. my ati 800xl just died so had to rma it and so i have an older 9700 pro in my system and playing planetside i had to turn it down to 1024x7xx (forget numbers easy) instead of the 1200x1024. i wouldnt want to have to run say doom at 1900x?? or 1600x?? with even the 800xl so in some cases the lower res on a tv monitor can be a bonus.

WHo makes a 1080p 27" LCD TV?

WHo makes a 1080p 27" LCD TV?

The closest is the 27 inch Dell LCD monitor. Tunerless though.

But at the current price, you can either get higher resolution (30 inch Dell at 2560x1600) or more screen (37 inch 1080P Westinghouse, slightly lower res)

It's dead in the water at current prices (1200)

That 24" Acer at Costco for $499 supports 1920x1080, widescreen is nice.. some say this panel is the same one Dell/Apple use.

Indeed tunerless, although I do know that the 27" has got video inputs (RCA, S-Video, not sure about Component though) so I figure that you could hook up a DVD player or set top (cable or sat) box to the display if you want to watch video. I figure that nobody would want to buy a 27" LCD monitor just to watch peasant-vision or just basic cable.

Yeah I don't know.. Why anyone would want to pay $1200 or whatever for a 27", which becomes even smaller after 1:1 pixel mapping, when you can easily get a 37" for the same or a little more is beyond me. Unless you planned on using it as a computer monitor, or you just really can't afford the extra space.
