View Full Version : XBOX360 - 20GB HD - $44.99 @ WalMart

May 8th, 2007, 08:02 PM
Was at WM this afternoon and the clerk said their stores will be clearing out a lot of stock in about a week or so, for instance the HD will go at $44.99. And might even see wireless headsets clear out around $29 or so. Ive already seen a few in the bargain bin, they have a ton to clear out - a whole cabinet full. So if you dont have one, here is your chance!

lol, that's a waste of tiem and effort, just buy the 120 for $200 and sell your 20 for $100, same price since you ahve to use the 20Gb's enclosure anyways so you cant sell it.

that has yet to be verified, and if it's true it's a clearance price, not the new retail price.

Although this does sound like pure conjecture on the part of the employee, I would definitely be interested in a $29.99 wireless headset. I have read over the post a couple times now and I am still unsure whether or not these are already this price at some locations (in bargain bins)? Or this too is an "upcoming" price drop. Can someone please explain?

Those can't be clearance prices. Clearance prices are always $XX.00.

I saw some of them for about +- 31 bucks on clearance at Toys R US near Galeries d'Anjou in Montreal past weekend.

I don't know if it is the case in others TRU.

i wouldn't say "always"...

yes, i'd say *most of the time* WM's clearance prices are whole $ amts, but i've certainly seen some clearance tags where there's fraction of $'s too... i.e. $X.XX....

Personally I don't know why this deal is exciting unless you don't own a 360, want one and can somehow find a Core system very cheap. I'm sure most 360 owners either have the Premium version or have long since bought the HD. Even then, I dunno about buying a core, no wireless controller and no component cable. Add in costs to buy that stuff and it probably kills this deal.

I'm ignoring those who will buy these to Ebay (if this deal proves legit) since I don't think that's in the spirit of RFD.

You do of course realize that only a tiny minority of 360 users would have the know-how, time and desire to do this?

Even if you were to buy either of these items to profit off of Ebay with them you'd be lucky to make $5 after fees, the going rate on Ebay is fairly low for these two items compared to the MSRP, good price for those looking for them but not for reselling.

Agreed, most people will be looking for deals on the 120 GB, I fully expect the 20 GB to be cleared out at below $45 soon. There really is not going to be much demand for 20 GB drives in the future.

Remember, the 20 GB really has I think around 12 or 13 GB of free, useable space.

20 gb is more than enough in canada with no downloadable content worth my bandwidth, even with the new dashboard updatge still nothing

hopefully when there is something worthwhile on there the price of the 120 gb drives will be 45 bucks hahaha

I picked up the 120Gb today for 104.96+Tax at FS. It was already an open box Item. Apparently any accessory that gets returned they have to drop the price by 50%. I'm guessing someone needed the cable to transfer to an elite, so they bought it and returned it when the transfer was done. It might be worth wile to check FS or BB in case anyone returns one. You could alwasys buy one, return it, then go back the next day and pick it up again.

I hope you looked for the etching "120GB HDD" in the chrome part before you bought it, there have been a lot of people buying the 120, transferring their stuff to it, formatting their 20, putting the 20 in the 120's packaging and returning it as the 120 for a full refund.

It's dumb*** like these people that are making stores change their return policies. Soon, all the stores are going to have a 7 day return policy on unopened items only, just like EB does now. I rememeber when EB first opened, you could return OPENED games! This stuff makes me sick.

It's not the first time nor will it be that last. I remember someone here buying an ATi Radeon X800XL AIW or something only to find a D-Link NIC inside. Got me all paranoid and when I bought mine, I opened it immediately after paying for it.

I do note that most Xbox360 Cores are first editions Xbox 360 (lots of heating, bugs and so forth). I haven't seen any new ones unlike the Premiums.

Actually believe it or not, this bozo I work with did exactly that. He wanted an extra controller, so he bought he bought it new...refunded it 2 mins later. Walks out to the car, gets his gf to walk in and buy the same one. But hes biggest cheapskate ive ever known so nothing he does surprises me. BIGGEST CHEAPSKATE. FOr instance if he goes to the bakery and buys a cookie for example, he will always look for the biggest one and if he doesnt get it he will complain :|

i've returned OB stuff before and i think the fastest turn-around that i've seen is the next day...

they have to register OB items in their system or sth before they put it out on the OB/clearance tables.... not to mention those FS "OB stickers" they have to label the product as (afterwards)

Open box items turn around isn't 2 mins.

Usually it is pretty close. When I return an item at my local FS if I tell them nothing is wrong with it they enter that in the system during a return and the open box tag is printed right away. They then put it on the shelf behind the CS counter until someone can stock it. However, I was returning a DVD a few weeks back and the guy in front of me was returning a VGA cable for 360 and it was regular $39.99 I think, but they tagged it for $17.49 or something similar and I asked if I could buy it, or if it had to be processed then put out in the store. She replied "sure you can buy it now" and then rang it in. Was just under $20 total taxes in.
