Although the specs look nice, in my experience, gaming laptops aren't worth the $. They are quickly outdated so you're better off buying a mobile, cheap laptop and a performance desktop.

NCIX Sale Price $2099, NCIX regular price isn't usually the cheapest around anyways.

Anyhow, i was looking at this laptop as i was thinking of getting it and found this laptop at ATIC.ca for 1990 dollars. It has since been changed. So that sucks.

definately not worth it...
The only thing worthwhile is the 7700 card.
Asus is incredibly overpriced as well.

What do kids these days do for LAN parties? Do they actually lug in their huge towers (plus the million cooling fans), LCD, mice and keyboard?

I like how they call nvidia 7700 laptop a gaming laptop.
I guess any laptop with a dedicated video chip is called Gaming laptop.
Yes, I do play game on my laptop every single day, and I do need it because I am 70% not home, and that 30% is when i sleep.
And my laptop is not outdated for 1 year already for some reason.
It's not the fastest but it's good enough for me for now. and it's 7900 gtx.

my HP dv6375us has the exact same specs except the vid card is 7400go and native resolution is 1280x800...everything else is exact same from that list, and it even comes with an HP expresscard tv tuner with media center remote....all for around 1.6k......much more worth it imo =p
oh, and its got a lightscribe burner too lol

Did they improve their customer service for warranty? Last time I had to deal with them it was very time consuming and their attitudes are comparable to Acer.

Laptop gaming is just too expensive and as such poor support from manufacturers.
A shame.

the best bang for the buck gaming laptop is the inspiron 9400 w/ Nvidia 7900GS.
Big though, 17".

For laptop, my theory is go for the best available.
- Since laptop's video cards are rarely upgradeable, and even if upgradeable, it's not worth it.
- Assume the gaming laptop can be outdated after 2 years.
- Let say 7900 GTX can last 1/2 year longer compare to 7900 GS.
- So if the 7900 GS laptop cost $2000, then it's worth it to spend $2500 to get 7900 GTX. Plus $250 worth of able to play better through the 2 years with 7900 GTX. Plus $50 worth of brading right for the 2 years.

well, this is the top of the line portable gaming laptop. most people find 17" laptops too cumbersome to bring around. and the 7700 is the best video card you can get in a 15.4" laptop. however, is this a good deal? not really. Asus has an almost idental specced laptop for several hundred cheaper, but it doesn't have all the gee whiz bang lights and extras that the G1 has (G1 comes with a logitech MX518 mouse and a carrying backpack).
but then again, people who buy laptops to game on are not looking for cost effective solutions from a hardware perspective. they are basing the worth on a combination of mobility, ergonomics and hardware. i have a friend who has a gaming laptop and he comes over almost every weekend. my other friend, who use to own a tower, bought a laptop for like $2000 and is completely satisfied because he can also bring his laptop over too now (trust me, lugging a tower/monitor/kb/mouse/cables gets old).
so to each his own. there's worse choices you can make. as far as gaming and flashing lights go, this laptop has a place

My laptop has all the light and stuff, but it gets stupid after 2 hrs of brading right, I then never turn on the light again.
For me, 15.4" is very limited if you are really gaming, especially if you are top of the ladder of a game, every bit of more space helps. Then there are always ppl argue that why are we using laptop for competitive gaming. The reason is the laptop is faster than most towers already, and we really need some form of mobility to carry gaming with us. Yes, the laptop is heavy, hard on your shoulder if you carry it for too long, but it's tiny bit lighter than a LCD, a tower, keyboard, .... No, we are not gaming in a car on bumpy road, we are gaming on a remote site with huge space available for my huge power supply and laptop.
Obviously, high end gaming laptop is not the mainstream market, but it definitely has it's purpose. And that's why there are more than dozen companies only specifically build high end laptop for living.
