See - http://www.shoprogers.com/store/wireless/services/voice/my5.asp
MY5 will be offered in 2 forms:
included in a megatime priceplan
OR
an ADD-ON for $10/Mth
www.rogers.com/my5
(after May 8th)
This is the best thing in rate plans I have seen in a long time!
For $10 per month pick 5 numbers (any network) to get unlimited calling to and from.
If you are devious, you can set up a VoIP system at home where you call in and then get a dialtone out so you can dial to anyone and to Rogers it would just look like you are making a lot of calls to one number.

I have rogers home phone. Also in addtion to what you suggested, what if i call forward that to my cell, and have people call my home phone. Does that mean my cell is getting call only from home #?

I currently have a Corporate plan which is pretty good. If I don't go over my minutes I only pay $22.xx taxes in.
Unfortunately I always tend to go over my daytime minutes (200). Rogers won't let me add it since my plan is corporate.
Has anyone been successful adding it to a corporate plan?

Bell has a promo on a number of plans
Unlimited local calls to one Bell residential phone number of your choice
But it is only TO that number and not from that number also - I find that kind of weird.
I have not done this myself so I don't know much about it but this is something people might be interested in

It does come as a plan as well as an add on.
Best LAN is http://www.worldline.ca $3.95/month for unlimited Canadian long distance.
Cheapest you can get for really unlimited is $25 Mega Incoming + $10 My5 + $3.95 Worldline and just prepend the access number to everything in your phone book. If you just get the $25 My5 plan you're stuck saying you'll call the person back - the opposite of the Unlimited Incoming problem of asking everyone to call you back.

I added the $25 MY5 plan, I was an existing customer but the only catch I had to restart my 3 year contract. This plan is going to be popular.. you can call and receive unlimited calls from your my5 circle.

In theory, it should be true. This is for the same reason that if you have R2R, and you call someone who has forwarded their Rogers cellphone to a landline, you will not be billed, because as far as you know, you're still calling a cellphone.
I'd ask the guys over at hofo.

Hi - I think I will be getting a cell phone for the first time ever. 90% of my incoming/outgoing calls are going to be long distance so I was thinking about doing the Rogers Canadian One Rate thing - $40 plan with 250 weekday mins +$25 for 500 eve/weekend mins +6.95 access fee = 71.95+tax.
But for $20 less a month I get unlimited long distance? I am trying to understand the catch here? I have to phone a 1-800 number each time before I dial LD? or I have to call a 416.XXX.XXX number before I dial LD? (so if I am up at the cottage - i would have a different access number to dial my friends than when I am at home?). And the quality of worldline.ca would probably suck too since its voice over IP??
I am trying to understand the trade offs here. Do I understand them?

You're right, it's not on the website b/c it's not offered freely. Trying calling in and asking for wireless essentials code RTLD1000A (Canadian LD Anytime Option $5.00).
After reading the Rogers retention plan tread (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111887) I called retentions directly to sign up a new account. I did (before I moved) have a cable and internet account so that helped me get my "foot in the door".

How it works: if you are in one of the areas where the local access number is a local call for you (check Worldline.ca for access numbers), you set the access number as one of your My5 numbers. If you move around a lot you can set up a couple access numbers as your My5 numbers. You dial the access number before dialing the actual number, it's not a 1-800 one (as they don't work with My5). In the case of new nokias, in your phone book if you wanted it easy, it would be, for vancouver 6044848058p4175555555, then you select that phone book entry, it will dial the LAN, then pause for 2 seconds and send the 4175555555. Since Rogers only knows you're calling the LAN, you get calls of unlimited length for it.
This does not work if you leave an area with a Worldline local access number.

Does anyone here know of any way to use My5, call home, and than be able to dial out from home ? I have SHAW home phone and I get unlimited calling throughout northAmerica. It would be nice since whoever Im calling would still see my name and number come up on their caller id.
I know there are ways with some Voip companies in the states. Anyone know of a way using maybe a secondary device or a computer ?? Sorry if it seems im hijacking this thread. But this would work perfect with My5 no ?
Gee
May 25th, 2007, 08:36 AM
I don't think it is possible. For one simple reason.
When you call your home number from your cell phone, your Shaw line answers.
How do you expect to make another call on the same line, when it is already in use?
You would need two lines.
krazy_leb
May 25th, 2007, 11:03 AM
Well thats just it I do have 2 line. A second line is free with every shaw line. You would technically be making a 3-way call. I mean if my wife was at home say and I wanted to make a phone call I would bug her and ask her to put me through to someone. There must be a way to automate it so you can dial out when you dial in? I know this is possible with many VOIP companies in the states to my knowledge none in canada do so ??

OK Cool - that sounds good enough actually. I will go for that if I can't get a proper plan. The only thing that makes me nervous about this is you would think rogers would clue into it.

OK - I am now a rogers customer. We decided that the "My 5" doesn't make sense for me since the friends/family I talk to are long distance. So this doesn't really belong in this thread - but I told you I would give you the update so here it is:
100 daytime outgoing
unlimited eve. / weekend. 6pm-8am
unlimited incoming.
LD1000. (1000 canadian long distance mins)
CallerID,
VoiceMail,
TextMessaging.
Rogers to Rogers - Free Anytime, Long Distance or Local canada wide.
Free activation
Free V360 phone with a non blue tooth headset.
agreed to a 3 year contract. (first 6 months unlimited local airtime.)
$45+7.45 (911, system access) = 52.45/month.
Thanks for the tip that you don't need to be an existing rogers customer to get this. I just said I heard I could get a good deal from retentions vs. a store and I got hooked up.

I believe there talking about vbuzzer.com which gives you a callback with $5 a month.
In this case calling out can use easier way like 416xxxxxxxp416xxxxxxx which can be book marked. But receiving calls will be a big trouble. I personally think unlimit incoming + callback is a better deal if you don't mind key in the phone number when you calling.
By the way, if you have My5, you can order vbuzzer number (around 2.5/m) and config the number forward to your cellphone which make you receiving phone calls at 2c/min. If you're in Toronto, you can order vbuzzer long distance and make your calling out at 2c/min too.

Well, I got the plan..told the guy that I didnt have any friends or family so "My 5" is useless to me, unless he wanted to give me his number so we could be friends and I could call him every night through this "My 5". Well he declined and said that he could give me a $10 discount on my current plan if I promise never to talk to him again..I agreed and got a great deal!!

since bell, telus and rogers all seem to have their my5 equivalents, i thought i'd mention what fido is currently offering.
$30 incoming on 3 yr
100 daytime
unlimited evening and weekend
unlimited incoming
unlimited fido to fido text
unlimited fido to fido/rogers/rogers home local calls
25 mms/month
$35 gives you 200 daytimes minutes.
of course, evenings begin from 7pm and it's per second billing.
yes, i work for fido, but these plans are awesome, even considering my inherent bias. please don't retaliate with corp/public/ret plans.

No ad. Call quality is fine, can't notice any differences between a regular call. Only delays are entering the phone number and waiting for that to connect. It displays your CID so no problems there.

unlimited incoming IS NOT EQUAL TO My5 afaik
If you're husband's Rogers cell has MY5 on it, and has your HOME ## on as one of the 5.....shouldn't it be unlimited local then?????
