Are these the Hungry Man version or the regular?

Are these the Hungry Man version or the regular?I don't believe these are the Hungry Man editions; Hungry Mans are the ones that advertise "over 1lb of food" on the box" ... I think these are like 280g or something. The HMs @ $1.99 are a great deal when they do often drop from the usual $4 or so; probably bad to eat these more than 2x a month, but boy do they address hunger, in a cheap ($$$, redflags?) type of way!

NoFrill has this also for $1.44. But don't believe they have steak.

Ya, I usually get these from RCSS when they go at 1.99 but they haven't been on sale for a few weeks now. I used to eat these every day for lunch :D and I'm still alive...

I just went shopping for groceries at Dominion and grabbed 17 of these, and most of them are 280g ones. The Hungryman's are 450g, which is a pound. For this price it is relaly not bad if you are ever in a hurry, or too lazy to cook, and you can have couple of them if you are hungry.

I know the Hungry mans have something like ~800 calories per box, these would hover from 400-500.
They taste good once in a while though!

To be honest I'm more interested in the protein/fat/sat fat and to some extent sodium content than the calories.

No disrespect but take a look at the sodium and fat content in these things.
Pretty scary.

Yes....at least you don't taste it like all the chips and snacks which give a 'sodium hit'....there otta be a law....re salt in products. The reason for so much salt?.....flavour has gone out of so many products. I won't get any better IMO. Steak....unless you pay lots it has little flavour....and is tough.

Nothing wrong with alot of sodium, heck look at the Japanese, amazing amounts of sodium intake, yet avg life span is 80 or so. Fat content is another story though.

how can a hungry man dinner have only 800 calories, was the goal to feed a midget? now if it was 2000 calories, then we are heading somewhere....

Yeah, but they also eat a lot of fish which probably counteracts all that salt. The salt hardens the arteries and the omega 3 helps soften it a bit and removes the build up. The fish to salt ratio has to be pretty high to counteract all that salt. Do you eat a lot of fish or take omega 3?

Don't be afraid of salt. If you drink 3 liters of water every day,you shouldn't worry about it. Most people drink less than 2 litters and that's when the problem starts

Are you crazed? Most people only consume 2000-3000 calories in an entire day. Eating one "TV dinner" that's in the 2000 calorie range would be the mark of not a "hungry" man but of a fat man, lol.
Anyway I think some of the Hungry Man dinners go up into the 1000s of calories. These normal ones, I looked at a few recently and they are ~600-700 calories depending on which one you get. Still pretty high, and as others have said it's not a good idea to eat these on a regular basis.
