Do you need the extra reach of the 70mm focal length? If not, get Sigma's 18-50mm f2.8, or a better choice would be Tamron's 17-50mm f2.8.

I was in the market for a walkaround zoom aswell and had my sights ont he tamrom 17-50 2.8 great reviews from LOTS of people!

But in the end, decided on a prime, the sigma 30 1.4, now if only i can get the money for it
