Hi,

I bought a LCD TV last year during Future Shop One Day Sale. I didn't spend a lot of time researching the TV but overall I'm happy. I bought the Digimate 37 inch widescreen.

I have been using my XBox 360 to play DVD's but when we watch widescreen we still get the blackbars at the bottom and top of the TV. My buddy told me that I just need to use the zoom on the TV to get rid of the blackbars but the TV only supports Zoom to 4:3.

My question is am I stuck with the blackbars or do DVD players also have a zoom feature which can be used (without losing any of the picture) in place of the TV zoom?

Thanks

You will lose parts of the picture that's on the side because movies are not filmed in 16:9 (1.78:1). They are wider (I think 1.85:1 and 2.40:1).

If your TV had an option to expand to fill the bars, then you'd have an elongated image.

I'd suggest keeping it the way it is to enjoy the movie the way the director envisioned it.

HD TV content is where you picture will be perfectly filled because it is 16:9.

That's why you still have black bars.
