Hey guys,

I just received a City of Toronto parking ticket but there is no set fine amount or voluntary payment amount specified.

The officer checked off Infraction Code#5 which is "Park signed highway during prohibited (times/days)" however he did not put the fine amount.

Any ideas how much I am to pay?

Just fill in $0 for the fine amount, and send in a cheque for $0... :cheesygri

I just got the same ticket. I was parked on a Sunday at 10:15am. The sign says Parking enforced from 1pm - 9pm on Sundays.

Is this a legal ticket?

What are my rights in this scenario?

I got the same ticket sent to me as well. He saw me running back to my car and I drove off, thinking he didn't have time to get my plate and couple of weeks later I got the ticket in my mail.

yeah, but my question is that I got the ticket at 10:15am. The enforced parking time didn't start until 1:00pm on Sunday. Is this legal? Do I have to pay this?

If there is no set fine amount shown on the ticket, then you will likely win if you choose to fight the ticket in court. On top of that, if the sign says that the parking fees are only enforced between 1:00pm and 9:00pm, then you have even more grounds for a victory.

I'd suggest that you simply do nothing right now and wait for the follow-up notice to come in the mail. There is a chance that the officer will realize that he omitted the amount and he won't even file the ticket with the court...alternatively, one of the filing clerks could see that the amount was omitted, and then they won't file the ticket...in either one of these scenarios, it would be like you never even got a ticket. If you do get a notice in the mail saying that you have to pay the ticket, then you can apply for a court date at that time if you're willing to skip work for the trial.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. My ticket was written by one of those new devices that prints out the ticket. The fine is in there ($30).

I called in to the Parking Tags office and they told me that according to the code (Code No. 5) was that I was parking in a spot that was designated as a no Park Zone (e.g. like a quick drop off zone)

I'm going to have to check on this as I'm pretty sure my spot was good but it could also be why every spot was taken except for that one... so I want to be sure before I go and dispute it.

Thanks.
