Hey all,
My family owns a 93 Civic automatic driven primarily by my brother. Approximately 3 weeks ago the gear selector/shifter/lever got this problem.
Getting in and out of Reverse now requires a lot more effort than usual. When in park and neutral, it does not want to go into reverse. Once in, it doesn't want to come out. Once in neutral, going in and out of D3,2,1 is not a problem.
I know sometimes when your car is on a slope, you need to pull a bit harder to go from Park to Reverse. My situation is not that. It requires a lot more pulling force to move the lever from Park to Reverse to Neutral.
I don't know if someone did something to cause this or it just happened cuz of age.
I have not tried anything to fix it. I'd like to know what's causing this, if I can fix it myself or should go see my mechanic.
Thanks for your help.
