What company do you support most often?

Apr 30th, 2007, 01:49 PM
For the 2004 Mazda 3GT, solely from petro Canada for the points and the ethanol content as the car doesn't run efficiently with Sunoco.
For the 2004 Toyota Highlander, PC or Sunoco, no effect on efficiency!!

Are you saying Petro Canada has less ethanol than Sunoco? If that is the case I may switch. I usually rotate between Shell and Petro but found that I was getting better mileage with Shell. Now that PetroCan will be switching from "Wintergas" to a summer blend should I expect better economy?

Where ever I can find a deal...otherwise it's Petro Canada.

Yesterday I managed to find regular at 99.9 in Stayner On at an Esso self serve. (I wasn't driving around looking - just passing thru on my way home from a weekend in Collingwood).

I stay away from Esso after the report about the amount of sulphur in their fuel.

Also my car does "ping" considerably more under load when I use their regular gas.

I stick with Shell, Sunoco or Petro-Canada. I never buy gas from the no-names unless someone can tell me differently.

Not that there's collusion, but their pricing is always the same between vendors anyway.

Was a shell fanatic because of airmiles until Petro came out with their "save 2c/l" with their MC. Now that's where I go whenever I can. Moved back home for the summer though - no Petro here so I will likely revert to Shell or the new Crevier

Best price. Will go to Husky. Most of the time PC because of the 2 cents difference especially these days.

i always gas up at Esso, i have a business fleet card that gives me 3.2% off at the pumps, i also applied for 3 cards for my family so that we all can save. If anyone wants to apply for one, go here (http://esso.ca/Canada-English/Products/Fuels/Fleet/PS_F_FleetApply.asp)

1. you'll need a good credit history, because in essence your applying for a credit card
2. you'll need to run a business. [if you don't run a business,I can help you set up a business account. the fee is ~$76/year, but if you spend more than $200 on gas/month you should break even. and you'll also have a business on the side that if you wish you can work on as a hobby. Some people make a great living doing it.] i

if you'd like more info. feel free to PM me and i'll fill you in on all the details.

I only use Petro Canada because I basically get free car wahes with their points program.

FYI: The two people I know that know the most about cars (and don't know each other) both claim that Shell gas will give you the best MPG rates of any gas chain.

No idea if that is true or why (they did tell me but I forget. Could be ethanol content????).

Canadian Tire Gas Bars

Great Canadian Rebates Cash Back
Canadian Tire Mastercard Cash Back
Canadian Tire Money Cash Back

Total Savings at the pump (roughly) ~ 8%

In my area, the most the prices fluctuate is like 00.3 cents per liter, so saving 8% off 90 cents a liter is always a good deal...even if it means I'm limited to fueling up at the only 2 locations in Ottawa (which are about a 5 minute drive from my house anyway)

Shell for me because of the Airmiles and convenience of paying for the gas using the "Easy Pay" key/tag on my keychain.

I don't really have a preference. However there is a Shell on Keele and they have great prices every night. I usually put gas at the nearest gas station, when I need it. I like getting gas from Canadian Tire for the Canadian Tire money and I get alot of those cupons where you get 6x the amount. Like I said no exact preference.
