buying a minivan from the US

Okay so this is my question now...I think I found a dealer in the Washington who will sell to my but I am thinking we will all just fly down & make a vacation out of it. Do you think US customs would have a problem if we didn't have a return ticket and told them that we were flying into Seattle and driving the coast & returning to BC in X days after buying a van? I just want to make sure there is no issue that we don't have a return ticket. Should I tell them that we are buying a minivan?

Technically, there's no problem doing this (tons of people (including myself) have done it) but US Customs could technically refuse you entry for any reason they want so there's no guarantee that they won't have a problem with it. One minor issue is to contact the POE that you will export the vehicle from in the US since while some accept faxes of the title 72hrs before export, I've heard that some don't accept faxes and want the physical title 72 hours before you can export (which might mean that you have to spend another 3 days in the US)
