My friend told me that if you graduated from a post secondary school such as UBC or SFU and you are a first time buyer, you can get a discount from any car dealership on a new car?
My parents also told me the same thing. I can't find any information about this online. Is it like a backroom deal or an actually official thing?

Almost all manufacturers have a "graduation" plan. The amount varies from amongst the manufacturers, you need to check them out. Pick a car, make your deal and then tell them you are a recent grad. Don't tell them before hand because they will figure that into the deal. It is on the websites for the manufacturers but you need to really dig for it.

Also, the Graduate will need to be on the ownership and contract for you to get the rebate.
If your insurance goes up $150 a year, but the rebate is $400...
Just make sure it is worth your while.
Also, good idea to order your transcripts before you go looking for a new car. This will save you time when you finally decide on the make & model. Most manufactors require Official Transcripts from the University or College.. Diploma / Transcripts from the internet are often not enough.
