My uncle owns a shop in the UK, and he regularly sends me over various *expensive* items as gifts.
I was just wondering if there were any strategies in avoiding Duties when receiving the items because Canada Post opens EVERY package I get, and charges me insane duties. (and if they don't charge me duties, they simply loose my item :S)
Example: I had a pair of sunglasses shipped to me (he valued them as $30). Canada Post opened the package, valued them at $500 and charged me $100 in duties (I obviously didn't accept)
Maybe I could tell my uncle to mark the package as "returning personal property" or as "replica/imitation item".
anyone have any ideas or other ideas??
THANKS!
