If I want to have a liposuction done, would I have to first consult my family doctor? or can I go directly to a plastic surgeon(or whoever does this)? Are there clinics that specialize in this? if so, can someone please recommend me some credible clinics in Toronto? (Same questions for Botox...do I have to see my physician first?....because i really don't want to have to go through him)
I know people are gonna come up with all kinds of answers for this, but really, serious answers only please. :)

If this liposuction is for yourself, I think you should highly reconsider.

You don't need it.

Liposuction is like any other type of procedure, there are risks with it. And.........you don't need it.

Seeing your family doctor is a must for any operation. He or she may need to do a follow-up on you later on. I once had my finger cut pretty bad, the emergency doctor told me my family doctor would be notified.

You might not need to consult your physician (?), but regardless I think it would be highly recommended to do so. Your doctor would know a bit of your medical history, etc., so I think he/she would be able to provide good advice.

And, like others have said: do you really need it? It's not a procedure I would take lightly, so think it through. :|

(And I'm guessing there will be some wise-crackers here who will ask for pics to be posted ...)

I really doubt you'll find a serious answer to this HERE, especially for plastic surgeon recommendations. Surely there are other forums out there focusing on this topic - those are your best bet.

you've met me? haha, oh well, I don't remember.:cheesygri

Well, as expected half the people who've replied here are already trying to talk me out of it. And this is exactly why I want to avoid consulting my physician...he is a preachy old man and if I need a referral for this, I know that he will not give me one.
If anyone has gone through this procedure, I would really appreciate it if you could pm me a bit about your experience.

My only exposure to plastic surgeons is through the show Nip/Tuck. They never see family physicians on the show - and you know TV is always right!!

On a serious note, why don't you just excerise instead? The liposuction procedure looks pretty nasty and it leaves you looking like cottage cheese with lots of holes. I saw the pics of Courtney Love and Tara Reid in the gossip magazines :P
