Bought them last winter and still have them in, only rotated them once. The rear is noticeable more worn than the front. Recently on dry road I notice an audible humming noise which came from the rear only. I thought I got a flat or low on PSI, but everything was fine.

Never recall reading any of the reviews that such is the case. Anybody experience the same thing?

Regardless I'll be changing to Falken 451s later next week :)

Hey....I am wondering whether to get the Falkens or the Nokian Wr ...you think the Falkens will be good enough for the winter?
Nokians obviously cost much more...

I've had my Nokian WRs on my '03 TL since last november (~10,000kms & 1 rotation) and haven't noticed any humming yet, although I would expect them to be louder than regular all seasons/performance tires due to the softer/thicker compound.

I bought these from the Kal-Tire in Whitehorse recommended by the sales reps there. Also I noticed all around town a lot of cars were running on the Nokian Hakkapelitta (sp?) tires and some with the WRs. From my experience I was pretty happy with them.

I like to drive around the mountains on the fireroads which get a little local traffic so the snow wasn't too deep (~1ft & soft) and I had no troubles at all getting around town and off on the fire roads adventuring with the WRs. Although they didn't allow me to plough through deep fresh snow, but had enough bite to keep the car moving forward.

I did get stuck twice but this was right after the weather warmed up from -20 /-30 to 0/-5 which made the snow a bit stickier and I was trying to turn around on a road that had 1 1/2ft of snow (enough to get the undercarriage stuck) beside the grooved tracks.

Also, driving the Alaskan hwy throughout the winter was no problem at all, if you've ever experienced this hwy during the winter, you'll understand it doesn't get a lot of attention ~20km outside of the city's limit, and I happily drove day/night in all winter conditions, snowy, windy, icy you name it. The Nokians gave me a lot of confidence when driving around the North and saved me a couple of times dodging bison/caribou driving from Whitehorse to Saskatchewan.

Long story short, I really like the Nokians and they are champs in the rain too. Only shortcoming is the reduced performance in handling with my TL, the softer sidewalls tend to have more lateral sway when making swift corrections at speed. But it's just a momentary lapse in response, you still have control, it's just not as sharp as before.

The WR's are fairly loud tires in my experience. I've had two cars with two different sets of them now and they'll likely be the only tire I use for many years to come.

They saved me MANY times this winter. The grip is incredible, and yet I don't have to change tires for the summer. They are pretty expensive though...$1100 to get them on my car...

I know KalTire only sells them in sets of 4, but if I went back to the location where I bought the original 4 would you think they'd let me buy just 2 next time around, due to uneven wear and lack of rotation and laziness on my part? I'll call tomorrow but just wanted to see if anyone's actually done this.

I'm guessing it's cheaper to buy all season tires now eh now that summer's coming.

Try this.

Go out to a parking lot and bring the car up to the speed in which you hear a hum. Turn the wheel hard right, then hard left. If the hum gets quieter one way and louder then other then the hum is a bad wheel bearing. My mom has thought the same thing in the past
