Hey guys, I'm currently in the market to get another car and have got it narrowed down to these 3.

Honda Accord 1998-2000 Models/4 Door/Automatic/Around 115 000 KM on them
Toyota Camry 1998-2002 Models/4 Door/Automatic/Around 110 000 KM on them
Toyota Corolla 1998-2002 Models/4 Door/Automatic/Around 110 000 KM on them

So which one would you pick to be the best car that's a good family car, and won't cost someone to go bankrupt in insurance payments lol. The person that will insure the car is a male, age 58 who's never gotten in an accident, never gotten any tickets or had any trouble wit police at all.

I think the key here, since the driver is 58, is to find a comfortable car for them to drive. In all fairness, at that age, there may be certain "quirks" that are more appealling to one model or another. I don't think they could go wrong with any of those cars, so I would have them sit in each and take a test drive. Pick the one that they think feels best, as any of those three vehicles will be reliable and hassle free provided they have been maintained properly.

the thing is he is unsure himself lol...so he told me "tell me which one and thats the one ill get" so i said get a bmw :cheesygri , but he said no  lol
only thing that he really cares about is the car being not too costy on insurance/not costing too much if it ever needed repairs and for it to be a safe family car if anything was to happen.

Yeah the Accord for sure, solid Honda, looks far better than the competition for that year.

camry is probably the best bet here, comfy reliable ride.
bigger (maybe safer?) than the corolla. i imagine the insurance is cheaper than the accord but i say give the companies a call and find out.

V6 or I4 ?
i know that the 3 litre toyota V6 has sludge problems, so if you are looking at a V6 Camry make sure the oil was changed regularly

Family car = Camry

If you want something more sporty or Honda fans... = Accord.

For Better gas and reliability = Corolla

We might be trying to get rid of our 1998 Honda Accord EX V6 Auto 4 door soon, you interested ?? We've got a bit more kms on the odo than you are lookin at but the car's accident free and as far as I know we've kept the entire service history with no major faults.

Actually we've got a 2001 Corolla 4 door CE 4sp Auto we may be getting rid of soon too, but again a bit more kms on the odo than you're looking for and is same as accord, never been in accident, full service history etc.

IIRC the accord has around 160000km and the toyota 160-170 thousand.

oh yeah teh corolla's helluva lot better on gas than the accord, but that thing's the v6 so you cant really expect it to sip gas like a rolla's 4pot. On the highway though I get around 31-33 mpg with once hitting 35mpg but that was with a tailwind and really soft throttle modulation. Figures are in US MPG, imperial blows.

almost done sellin XD. the accord was the flagship model and fully topped up, leather, cruise, climate control etc.

If you want economy go corolla, if you want more space and comfort go accord or camry but definetly get the v6. City mileage is gonna suck no matter what you drive, go to http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ to get updated ratings on older models. These ratings more accurately reflect how cars are driven nowadays as opposed to the more conservative method of old which were done with low speeds and low rate of acceleration.

Well, I spent all week checking out different cars and found one i liked (98 Toyota Camry LE/ Black for $9000 including taxes and everything and 1 year warranty for engine and transmission) but i'm kind of suspicious on it. i checked its Carfax record and it shows that on 2005 the car was said to have 105 000 km and now in 2007 the car when i test drove it said it had 107 556 km, also it said that the car was a leased car in Quebec before for 2 years. Could it really be the in 2 years it was only driven 2556 km though. It seems kinda suspicious unless its been at a dealership for 2 years(2005-2007) but the guy said its only been there for 2-3 weeks.

I'm still looking as i want to find an accord more then a camry but from what i saw till now that camry was good, drove well, and seemed really clean from rust, i got the guy to pull the car up and checked its bottom carefully and there was hardly any rust on it.

yeah that does seem a bit strange to have only had 2000 km put on in two years. but you gotta remember that toyota's are like bullet proof, as long as you do all the regular maintenance on time and properly itll last forever
