How much did it cost you to fix it?

How much did it cost you to fix it?

Almost $1500.00 to fix it. But I did all the work in my auto class, gave up all my lunch breaks. I got alot of stuff for free. Basically when we were learning to do brake replacement (for example) I basically did the work on my car. Take the paint job for instance, I paid $0 dollars for it. When we were learning how to spray the cars, I used my car as the project car.

Im planning to get rid of the wheel covers, and leave the wheel exposed and eventually get a of the rims.

i just put them to get that sporty type look to it. I know that a Corollar isn't the best car for them, but you know I have alot riding on my shoulder right now that I gotta have a little fun.

Good work there. Can’t believe they teach all that in high school now. They didn’t in mine, anyway. You even did the painting yourself, wow. :D

What are your plans for the future? Open your own body shop or something?

I don't really see how those tacky clear lights with red inserts is sporty. In my opinion, going with a clean all-OEM look will get you better results. This means stock tails, paired up with good Toyota rims from an up-level Corolla.

They teach ricing in high school now, we're doomed!

I'll get some before pics up. And heres the story behin the "Corolla". My dad died 3 years, so his work truck was repossed. I had gotten a part time job at this restaurant, owner drove a porche 911 and he basically tought me to drive casue he needed someone to move the car across the street after 12 am. Now my mom was 4 months pregnant and I figured we'll eventually need a car. So I found this shitbox Corolla for like a few hundred dollars so I picked it up and its basically been sitting in my garage and my auto class for like the past 2 years. I saved some money for parts and then now its finished.

good for you, man. If ppl on car forums would read stuff like this.. about ppl that actually had to save money for their cars, they would be humbled and wouldn't be racing every other kid at the next red-light...

it would definately make markham/richmond hill a better place.

Well, don't buy a Ford Fusion then, because they have them from the factory! :D

...and before you know it: Drift king. :D

Just kidding. I wish I could have had a class like that in HS. Think of all the money I would save fixing up my own car.

Wait for Beppol to total his Celica - 3S-GTE swap!. :D

good stuff OP !

I wish I could learn to fix up cars like that. My highschool didn't have a shop but it would have been amazing to learn how to fix and maintain cars.

The Corolla looks good man.

It's not hard, for every car/brand, there is basically a forum dedicated to it. Usually there is a DIY section that many novice write to guide other novices about doing some sort of maintanence. You just need a lot of time and patience. It's like building your first computer.

I think all the people who talked **** about your car should feel like A@@holes now.

Kind of a sad story. It's awsome your high school is teaching all this though. Good job.

hey, that is good advice Tenzor.

I really think I will start taking this up as my hobby. I like to build things, I can build my own computers and should start looking into cars.

I will start with the family's old Taurus as a project. Just simple maintenance and stuff like that.

My high school did the same stuff too, many teachers had their tires rotated and oil changed for free. The shop teacher wasn't very keen on imports though, he had a collection of 3-4 vehicles, I remember a Monte Carlo, and a Chev pickup, they were used to do work on. But the students were free to bring in their rides to have some work done on them.

i wasn't hatin on the car... but i think most ppl go thro the phase where they think tails like those look nice (myself included)

in my hs... when students were working on the auto teacher's car... they'd do stuff like contaminate the oil (putting in debris and stuff) when doing an oil change...

i regret not taking auto in hs tho... i keep telling my younger bros to take it... but they dun wanna hah

Start off with changing oil, oil flters, air filters, etc. Work your way to brakes, then keep doing!

You can't afford to pay for an instructors car/drive tests but you can "pimp" your Corolla? Seriously, the wheels suck and look soooo cheap and tacky.

It does look nice... only if the car is white... and only if it's on the original car that started the trend, which would be the altezza/is300.

Buddy the money I spent on the car has been spread out through a few years. Also for me to pay for to take the instuctors car I need to work 12-13 hours and that takes up moreless of my paycheck. And my car isn't really "pimped" out its practically all stock. If your refering to the tail lights that make it looked "pimped" then whats wrong with that? The wheels well I kinda like em, as cheap as they look I kinda like em, my little sisters picked them out and wanted them for the car so I put them on, theres nothing wrong with that. I'm gonna get rims but not right now.

just my 2 cents that u should save up ur money until u can afford an even better car then put some nice rims on that
that would look much better
and yeah IMHO, the only time when altezza lights work is on an altezza
lol

good job fixing up ur car at a young age though
i wish i had taken some auto classes too and be more knowledgeable about my car's inner workings

What's with the hate on the first page?

I think it looks great as a school project. Knowing how to do this when you're 19 (or however old you are) is awesome!

Hows the interior? I'm assuming everything under the hood is stock as well? :D

I'm 17 years old, in grade 12. Yeah everything under the hood is pretty much stock, it wasn't really in my budget to do anything performance wise. The interior is also pretty much stock, I've added a CD player.

only if my high school had this, but then again being a high school in hong kong and doing UK A levels doesn't allow you to do many extra things.
