just my opinion, not defending op or anything, but this kinda thing happened with an idiot in our group of friends who was always bragging about his car when we all know he got it leased with his parents money.

You don't think it's slightly ridiculous for a parent to say to their 17 year old:
"Here son, have $25k to buy yourself a car"
"But Dad, I might want a $32k car"
"Oh okay, well that's fine then"
Not to mention the insurance he's going to incur being an 18 year old driver, likely driving a 2 door sports car.

Definitely, i can't agree with you more. It's not the best way to congratulate a kid's birthday/grad in my opinion, but if their parents are ok with it, what can you do? Different parents raise their kids differently, some people are lucky, like the op, and some ppl are like me, where i gotta wait until i get a job and make some good money to get my own car.
I wouldnt say his parent's are doing a bad thing without knowing him and his family. I would just say thats not wat i would do when i have my own kids, unless if hes like getting 90's and is a super good kid, thats a different story :D
Trust me, i've seen worse. Leaving the money for a kid to choose a car, and having the kid to go bragging to everyone about it and driving recklessly..

Yup ^^^ That's exactly what I think... I know plenty of relatives, take my cousin for example, brand new M3 the second he turned 18, shows it off like there's no tomorrow. But I won't assume all people with money are like that. I'm sure that once I'm successful after school and getting a job I'll treat my children well provided that they are good kids, don't brag and do well in school.

Yea man. It's ok to have a nice car from your parents, but bragging that its your own, and to still continue that when he got pwned on a forum because someone found his lease info through google, some people are really hard headed haha.
I remember from my books, theres generally 2 types of personalities, and everyone is on a scale somewhere between Introvert and Extrovert..
I think those braggers are extroverts.. need too much attention.. lol
I understand how some parents love their kids and give them the best everything, but sometimes they just do it wrong.

Farooq, theres no need to explain yourself. Its the internet, full of opinions. I remember someone here has a quote in their signature that says something like "winning an argument on the internet is like being in a ******'s olympics, win or lose you're still a ******"

Back when I was in high school, living in the US, a friend of mine got a brand new Ferrari F355 Spider for Christmas. He never showed off though. You could never tell he was rich either. he'd always wear his old torn jeans and un-ironed t-shirts to school. To school, he'd never bring the Ferrari, but rather his Cadillac STS. And no, it wasn't daddy's car....The guy was loaded.

I would go for Mazdaspeed 3 if you want the biggest bang for bucks, but i know if some idiot reads this he'll be like.. "Mazda? FOOK NO"
Anyway, there were about 5 cases of Mazda 3/Speed 3 engine mount being loose and the engine fell off, but i believe that issue is dealt with now. MS3 is fully loaded for 31K before tax, and that thing is fast, so if you want the biggest bang for your bucks, i would think that is the car to go

3 small cars and 1 mid size... strange to put those into the same category.
I am by no means a big guy, but i hate small cars. i have the new accord, and its quite nice. mid size, luxurious, powerfull, comfortable, economical, and looks quite hawt if i do say so myself.
civic/csx is nice, but small for my liking. and no offence, but small cars seem a little too feminin to me, although they are very fun to throw around. pretty good on fuel though, and a nice ride for the price overall.
and a mini... c'mon brah, thats a chicks car through and through.
consider perhaps a TSX also. basically a european accord, with all the features of an accord EX-L plus a 200hp flavour of the K24 engine, 6spd tranny, perforated leather and HID Projector headlights. Other than that, looks almost identical inside. bit smaller than the 4dr accord, but still a decent amout of space. And because its a 4dr sedan, it'll should be better on insurance than an accord coupe.
OH, and unless your gonna keep the car for a long time, or put on nuff KM, i say buy used and save some serious cash. and leasing is usually only a good idea if its under the business (tax purposes). I don't think i'll ever buy a new car again. just doesn't make sence considering how my KM i put on.

Give the guy a break. If his parents wants to buy him a car let them. All parents are different. I'm like a few posters that will have to earn my own car but that's how my parents rationalize things and raised me.
OP, I'm not sure how cost conscious you are on gas consumption but I'm one of those crazy ones that value fuel efficiency so I'll pick the civic that's good on gas and yet still a sedan. I'm not a huge fan of the cooper for some reason:S. I'm also not one of those individuals that need a car to show off or anything just something that has four wheels and will take me from point A to point B so a civic is good enough. Plus at your age the civic might be better or cheaper for insurance coverage.

How tall are you? My friend broke his legs during a accident when he sat in his friend's mini. He is about 5'10 - 6'0.
I also suggest mazdaspeed3. Best bang for bucks in terms of performance. I suggest you go buy a second hand though, save the a few bucks and maybe even buy new rims!
Common guys, no need to attack this dude, just because his parents are nice enough to buy him a pretty good car.
Well I am getting an 88 percent avg.
