Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has any insight on this area of Aurora. Particularly the area east of bayview on the north side of wellington. Good schools, transit system, local community forums, neighbourhood amenities, etc.

I drove my car up there for the first time today, I like the area. I prefer Aurora then down here in the TDOT/Etobicoke. But Aurora streets are getting fixed I believe it was Bathurst but heck it was still nice. There are only a few schools up there. I believe its 3 elementary school and 2 high schools.

Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has any insight on this area of Aurora. Particularly the area east of bayview on the north side of wellington. Good schools, transit system, local community forums, neighbourhood amenities, etc. My pals are living @ NW corner of Bayview/Wellington (between Zellers and Superstore). It is nice middle-class (I'd say lowish to middle middle class, but definitely not ghetto) area. Multiculti, but no dominany ethnic/religious group. They're raving about community center with pool and all kinds of kiddie programs. Area looks nice and we toyed with an idea of looking at it more closely, but I couldn't stand a thought of exta 50km/day commute.

Well, im currently living at Markham Rd & 16th ave and its about 15km to reach the 404, traffic can also be hectic during peak hours. Im trying to justify the fact that its only 17 km up the 404 from wellington to 16th. Any idea how traffic on the 404 is between wellington and 16th during rush hours?
Im looking at the bayview glen development across the road from Magna. price seems fair for lot size and square footage. Also there are a lot of standard features ie, cat 5, R22 insulation, Low E argon windows, silestone counter tops etc. i also like the fact that there arent too many smaller lot sizes in the current area...Mainly 45 to 70 foot lots. I dont know what types of housing are planned for the future though.
I drove by the area at night, and the town seems very sleepy. Im sure it will change over the next 10 years though. Ive been moving north very quickly ( from spadina / queen, yonge / eglington, bayview / sheppard, warden / 7, markham / 16th... all within 6 years.
also concerned with commute, school for the kids, and socio economic factor of residents in the area.

I have lived in Aurora my entire life so there's not much I don't know about it. Yes, it is still a pretty quiet town, especially in the evenings. There isnt a exactly a "happening" nightlife around here, even the movie theatre is usually quiet. It is a great place to raise kids, there are tons of young families and the town has excellent kids programs as well as a great library and community centres. There are currently 2 high schools with a new one being built as well as at least 10 elementary schools (including french immersion) The town isn't exactly diverse, I think on wikipedia it says that we only have 7% cultural minorities. The area around bayview/wellington is pretty new and that whole end of town has realy built up over the years. Just FYI there are plans to build a big strip mall on the north west crner of bayview/wellington and there is also a huge mega-walmart going in at wellington and 404, so that will make traffic HUGE on wellington in a few years. I prefer being closer to the main part of town as it's quieter and has a nicer more established feel. If you do buy, then let me know if you need any painting done, my DH has his own painting business here in town!

Traffic begins to slow down starting from Stoufville Rd, and moves at about 60-70km to 16th ave. It really bogs down as you approach highway 7. Woodbine has been a good alternative for me.
Going north bound, usually isn't a problem during rush hour. It begins to pick up at 16th, and moves well north of that.
I don't think it will ever become a lively town. The city boundaries kind of limit its growth.
