Take a look @ their web site for the list of sponsors and exhibitors. And go talk to them. You may get free tickets. This show gives out lots of free VIP tickets.

If not, try here for discounted tickets --> http://toronto.eservus.com/section.asp?catid=250&pageid=425#national_home_show

With or without airfare? By "National" I expect that you mean Toronto.
The National Home Show....Halagonians and Edmontonians are having a hard time coming to grips with this "National" event.
I cannot get over the fact that because Toronto has an event or show, it becomes the "National" whateveritis.
Canadian National Sportsman Show...methinks the Vancouver sportsmen are not going?
"National" Post..front page has a story on whatever is in your town, the rest is advertisements for Toronto Mattress Mart and houses for sale within a 2 hour commute to Toronto particularly if you bought the car at (inset name) National Car dealer.
OK, come and get me all you GTA folks, I have said my piece.;)

FYI, the GTA population didn't get together and have a big vote on what to call the Home Show. Don't blame us for how things are named.

Now, back to the point of the thread before you jacked it...

Agreed. When over 50% of the countries population is within an hour of the GTA, its reasonable to call it National. Get over it.

When they call things the Toronto whatever show then everyone else in the country complains that it's Toronto this and Toronto that.

Make up your minds.

PS Topic - All i can find is $2 off when you order the tickets on their online home site.

Have trouble making friends? All you've done in this thread is bicker about a completely unrelated issue to what the OP created this for. Why dont you start a thread about smaller cities inferiority complexes?

To Try and put this thread back on tract. i have installed and setup for 3 National home shows, If you are looking for deals i suggest going on the last 2 days ( sat ,sunday ) for some of the bigger items ( tv's BBQ's as well as bedroom sets and pretty much anything you need a flatbed or truck to bring home.

i was there on thursday and friday setting up in the Dream home and if you can i suggest everyone check it out , everything there is wired to a central hub and even though i dont think they let you touch the room panels each room is wired for a audio server as well as a complete home surround sound.

I picked up a BBQ last year and the price and added extras was knocked down about 400 $ off a top end bbq which i setup and paid and then picked up after the show on the last day .

as for the person who asked about food places in walking distance unless you get lucky and there is a hot dog vendor most places would be about 5-10 mins walking away from the main building .

any other questions that i can help with just ask i will see if i can get back to you .

We went on Saturday. Lots of people. And every 10th person I see was carrying a broom/mop/gadget that they bought @ the show. How useful those things are I don't know. But it almost looked like a witch convention.

Spm24's dream home is worth checking out. There's a minimum 30 minute wait to get in. While waiting, be sure to check out the garden/landscaping display area just to the right of the dream home.

As for eating, bring your own food. There's an area next to the Home Depot's display where you can relax and have a meal.

Dare is also handing out free sample cookies & biscuits at one of the exists on the west side.

We went on Saturday as well.

IMO, the dream home was a waste of time. Aesthetically, pretty much every model home you walk into at a builder site is nicer than the dream home. I didn't find it worthy of being called a "dream home". There were some nice features, but I expected a lot more. With that being said, if you don't need to lineup for it, go for it.

Aside from that, the show is good if you're doing a lot of major stuff (ie. kitchen, patio, shutters, etc.). It's not as good if you're looking for furniture, appliances, and electronics.

Not my dream home just was helping installing some things in it , Sadly due to the interest there is almost always a lineup this year though they at least have the eye candy Dell booth near bye that if there is no line up you can go in the car simulator . Last year over 80,000 people walked the dream home .

There is lots of little deals here and there through out the show so if you have the time try to cover as much as possible , i recommend walking shoes in the main hall not many people realize but from one wall to the far wall is 1800 feet with 4 aisles and the other side it adds up quick .

if you do find something you want to buy but don't want to commit till after the show or need more time to decide talk to the people in the booth to arrange a date lots of companies extend there date if a deposit is given at the show, it makes the numbers for the show look good , And remember if you plan on buying something big 9/10 the people at the door will let you come back on Sunday and go in to pick it up if you show them proof of purchase.

I went on Friday and put a deposit on a Beam central vac.

Wasn't really sure what the price range for these things are, but I ended up getting the 50th anniversary central vac and negotiated for additional accessories.

Beam 675 50th Anniversary Central Vac (msrp $759.99)
Beam Q Power Team accessories (msrp $579.99)
Care Care Kit
VacPan Automatic Dustpan
Hose Sock

Total: $999.99 +tax

I'll just need to work out some installation details once I get the new house.
