:?:

I am wanting this effect on my basement floor..i have the paint I just need the "effect" i was going to lay down (skinny)painters tape for grout lines & just paint the floor...but now i remember seeing a "template" for a brick -type pattern?
you tape it to the floor & paint over & peel off...simple enough right?
I have no idea where to find this.....anyone know?
I am not very artistic...otherwise i would TRY to make the "tiles" look worn or brick-like. :|

"Stamp" it. Paint the whole floor with your grout color to begin with. Make a stamp out of upholstery foam (available at Walmart and the like) cut to the size you want the tiles to be. Don't forget to take some chunks of foam out of the edges to give the handmade tile effect. Pour several different shades of paint on a piece of plastic and dip the piece of foam into it and give it a slight swirl. Stamp it on the floor and repeat. The purpose of several shades of paint and the slight swirl with the stamp is to replicate terracotta which is never a solid color or even consistent...

Hi Sonic! Not sure if you've done anything yet. This place sells stencils, usually used for topping, but paint is topping too :) http://www.stencilsystems.com/ I know theres' lots of others out there, try a Google search? Even doing the stencil yourself you can still use the foam method CSK'sMom suggested, the tape will keep you in the lines :)

Have fun!
