why is 939 cpu's still expensive. For god sake's AM2 is way cheaper and its more recent? Or is it simply because 939 is more expensive to produce?

I don't believe they make S939 any more so stores charge more because they're 'rare'

How does the 6000+ compare to the E6600 which is almost 100 dollars more?

Wow, prices are dropping fast. I've got an Asus m2n4-sli mobo and 2x512mb HyperX 533 ram. I've always been an AMD supporter since the K6 days. Not sure if I should get one of these processors or sell the mobo and go for a c2d :?:

Can someone supply a link to the cpu sale, specifically the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ for 86.99?
The link provided by simon0t7 just takes me to Easter sales page and the 3600+ isn't on sale there.

They don't make them anymore and finding any in stock anywhere is almost impossible now (and they ain't coming back). Try the BST forums on this site, used is about your only choice now.

the http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21228&manufacture=AMD&promoid=1060 is really tempting, but intel price drops are rumored for April 22nd, which means AMD will follow suit. this is probably just a push to steal sales before the intel price drops.

I'm hoping to get my hands on an intel C2D E6700, or a intel quad core for around $500 or less.

this is an interesting read
