Hello all, I have tried unsuccessfully searching for anyone that has signed up with Canada Energy. Anyone? We have just finished our contract with Direct Energy, thank goodness, a bunch of scammers. So has anyone dealt with Canada Energy, if so what are your impressions.
Thanks
Colin

They are all the same.
The percentage of what they are selling (oil, gas, electricity) is so small a proportion of your total monthly bill, it is not worth signing a long term contract. It only puts money in their pockets and the actual "maker" of the energy will increase their prices to compensate for those losses by increasing the other charges of which these folks have no control.
Have a look at your energy bill and see what actually you are paying to the "supplier" like Energy Direct or the others. You will see that the transmission costs, the pipeline charge, delivery charge, debt re-payment etc is still on there and does not change because you changed to someone else. And besides, these guys are incestuous, they are all somehow linked to each other anyway.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. I know a whole street (almost) who signed a petition against one of these providers and they didn't get anywhere.

Actually there is no crime here, the whole "energy sales" issue it is just a Governments' way of demonstrating that they have broken up a monopoly for the sake of "fair market price" and "competition". Considering that the monopoly was the Government makes no mind, it now allows them to charge whatever they like. Remember in the days when they said that it would be best for the consumer, that the consumer would benefit from the competition? Ahhh yes...the good old days.

May be you never save money from them. I did. In the past 5 years, I was paying 23 cents for gas. I could have signed a 20 cents if I had waited 2 more month at that time. How much did you pay?
The contract expired in Oct, 2006. Do I sign a contract right now? No, because I have not seen a good contract recently. I will sign one again if I find a good contract.
It is like buying the future or getting a fixed rate mortgage or variable rate mortgage, some people win and some people lose.
BTW, check out www.energyshop.com. RightRite is about 5 cents less than Canada Energy or Direct Energy.

gman, the point was that the portion of the bill that is actual gas (or other) is very small. They like to make you think that you are saving a huge amount off your bill when in fact you are not. Yes, you may save a bit but it is still a sales job by the re-sellers (what they are officially called).

I don't know how big is big for you. If I still have my 23 cents contract, I would have saved $32 in a $185.34 bill. 400 x 8 cents is $32. And, it is only one month. And, the gas supply portion was about 66% of the total gas charge last month. I don't consider it is a small portion.

Don't we all wish you could get it at 20 or 23 cents a cubic meter. Fact is that it is now 31 and the best you can get on a long term contract is 38. So, consider how much and how long you pay the higher rate then subtract the ...well, if you win in the end, then good for you, but chances are that you will even out at best.

The best you can get is 34.8 cents for 5 years at this moment. If you do sign for 38 cents, yes, you are sucker. I am hoping it will be cheaper than that later.
When I got my 23 cents contract, it was 20 to 21 cents at the moment I signed it and it was in the summer. The contract did not kick in until months later.
