This is approximately what we paid back in November. It's a pretty good TV, especially for connectivity options. But beware that the (minimalistic) remote must be pointed directly at the remote sensor on the TV to work. Deviate 5 degrees and you'll wonder what's wrong. There is also more background noise when the set is on (even at 0 volume), than I would like.

The lack of a tuner doesn't bother me in the least. I understand that I will be paying Rogers or another cable or satellite provider a monthy fee for the foreseeable future. Doesn't mean I like it, but I can't be bothered to set up an antenna system to receive 4 channels. What if my wife couldn't watch any more curling on TSN?!?!?

With the Sharp 42" coming down in price so much lately, if I had to do it over again today, I'd pony up the extra four hundred.

Again, the Westy is not a bad TV, and is still about the best 42" TV you can buy for ~$1650.

anyhow there's a 40 inches Sony 1080p Bravia on sale everywhere for about 2499.99$... for about 800 dollars more that would probably be better to go with that set instead for the higher reliability and godly picture quality
