For this week's Zellers flyers, in a bubble it says 20% off all nintendo wii discontinued titles. You think this is a typo, for Nintendo Gamecube games? If not what are discontinued Wii games. I wouldn't mind just picking up one game for sure.

20% off is equal to about only $12 off $60. I'd say the only game right now thats worth $50 is Zelda.

Besides the games already mentioned, the only other one worth buying imo is Trauma Centre. The rest of the Wii library is pretty bad right now, but thats to be expected for a launch.

Raving rabids is super fun too. If your a DBZ fan that title is a MUST. A lot of the games are meh. I should know since I have them all when I stocked up at the $20 zellers sale. Atleast the crappy titles have a decent resale value still.

yeah, but even at 20% off for Zelda, that's $40. which is the same price a few wks ago where they had both Zelda TW GCN/Wii version for "$40 ea."...

heck, some were able to get both games for 2/$40 :cheesygri

It's just a marketing tool Zellers is using to bring ppl into the store. They know they don't have a large stockpile of the games so it'll benefit them from bringing ppl into the store and making other purchases while they're there.

Props to them though for giving us some money off. :)

The week ending friday, we have 20% off discontinued PS3 game, as for the title up for sale, we will know in the morning only, i know that im starting 30 minutes sonner to scan all of them, and depending of the store the title maybe will change, some normal store will only put on sale the one that are really on sale(probatly1-3game), other (like mine) will put the 20% on all the discontinuated game in the LRT even if they dont scan at the cash register(probatly 6-7 wii game that dont sale)

Add to that Blazing Angels, Excite Truck and FarCry. I was just in the Zellers in Chinook Mall, Calgary, and those are some of the other titles I remember the salesman telling me. He seemed as baffled as I was, especially since (he tells me) Blazing Angels only came out last week (dunno, hadn't really been keeping track). On top of that, FarCry was marked down to half price, $29.99, so with the 20% off that made it $23 and change. I was willing to part with 23 bucks. But there were still some more copies left, if anyone else is itching for that game. I think it might have been a re-sealed package (the wrapping didn't feel right), but the contents seemed fine and unused.

Everything else was priced the usual $59/game, that I noticed.

I've noticed on some games that the packaging looked weird but it is done by the publishing company, ( I have noticed this at FS/BB/Zellers/etc) I think it is due to the publishing company if they made a bunch for America and than had to go in and add a french booklet before sending them to Canada if they are looking to just deplete their existing stock.

I've heard great things about Excite Truck. Seems to be the only game on the list worth picking up.

Grab the UBISoft wheel from Walmart or Zellers as well. It'll make the game even sweeter.

Well, like I said, it was all new inside - no hint the disc had ever been used, no fingerprints or scratches or anything. Having worked retail for many years, I know sometimes the plastic wrap on stuff gets messed up and you have to re-do it in-store, so it's likely nothing, but having worked retail for a long time I also know that getting stuff in messed packaging often leads to selling it a discount. Nothing wrong with it, but you can't charge full price because people don't want to pay it, so customers end up getting a good deal. So, I thought I'd mention it, in case it meant anything to anyone.

Went to Bridlewoods Zellers this morning nice and early at 8 am...

People got in on the Wii deal there and saw at least 8 wii's before it was sold out. .

Also psp deal $149.99 thing, not too sure about that one..

But getting back on topic, this apparent Zellers didn't even list their wii games that were "supposedly discontinued" nor did they say which ones had 20% off.. so I had one of their sales associates check and things that turned up were not good.. LOL...

I think the only thing that was like cheap.. and 20% meant still $49.99 or something near there was the following games.

(I'm recalling from memory, might be a tad off)
- Barnyard
- Far Cry
- Cars
- Happy Feet
- Maybe blazing angels

And a couple more, just associate the 20% to all the games that "one personally" feels just didn't make the cut for the Wii.. and those are probably the ones that are on sale...

Basically not a good deal at all imho, nothing good on sale at all and they didn't even have any extra remotes / nunchuks..

What? I was told by the Zellers associate this morning was that was a typo.
It was meant for GC games and all of the games we tried scanned at MSRP  while I was trying to get the PSP.
Did anyone buy anything worth 20% off (like the Nintendo first party stuff)?

well, if the publisher has to make a FRE booklet + cover for it, usually they'll reshrink wrap it, but even then, the underlying game should still have a MFR' seal....

i've seen games at FS/BB/RCSS/WM that are kinda 1/2 opened (i.e. MFR seal ripped/damaged) but that's usually due to wear.

usually it's these games that are in the clearance bins, and believe it or not, i've seen RCSS clearance bins have all kinds of opened s/w (games/movies in particular) and yes they do try to sell it at a lower price....

FS/BB, i don't see that v. often....

I think only Sony does that for some of their Greatest hits games Like Jax and Daxter, Sly, etc, Most seem to redo it a bit more properly, meh, no big deal anyways, I think only Microplay and EB have resealers anyways

The ones I checked in store were scanning. Were as follows
Excite Truck (47.99)
Chicken Little (39.99)
Barnyard (47.99)
Super Monkey Ball BB (47.99)
Farcry

I think Splinter Cell may have also been a part of this group but there wasnt one left when I got there.

i don't believe EBG have resealers.

they have display boxes up on their shelves and if it just so happens that they sell out on a particular new game (sealed), they'd have to sell the customer the so-called "gutted copy"... the disc is supposedly "new" taken f/ their drawers in a white paper sleeve and they take the display case off the shelf, and sell that to you as "new"...

course a lot of us know this is not always the case w/ their "gutted copies"....
